The USSR sponsored all the crap in Southern Africa in the 60’s/70’s. They have had their fingers in that pie for a long time. China has recently been engaged there. Islamists as well. Interesting situation. Glad to be out of there. It is a MESS!!

In Rhodesia, I believe the Chinese supplied Mugabe, whereas the Russians supplied Nkomo. It would be odd if formerly-Marxist and majority Christian Mozambique became an Islamist state.

Indeed the Soviets did. Where did all those Kalashnikovs come from? But the Chinese are only there for the natural resources. They don’t care to colonize. But they do need stability to grab their stuff. Watch for them to quietly support the return of white farmers to Rhodesia. The miners need a stable food supply.
