Catherine Herridge, Fox News Veteran, Moves to CBS News
Variety ^ | 10/31/2019 | BRIAN STEINBERG

Catherine Herridge, a Fox News Channel veteran who has been with that network since it was founded in 1996, is moving to rival CBS News.

She will work as a senior investigative correspondent out of Washington, CBS News said, and will start in November.

Herridge is the second long-serving Fox News journalist to leave the Fox Corporation-owned cable-news outlet in recent weeks, and her departure may give a new boost to recent speculation that the network’s news-side employees have grown frustrated during a period when its opinion hosts have largely used their programs to lend support to President Donald Trump and his administration, sometimes criticizing news reports.

Shepard Smith, another long-serving Fox News journalist who was seen as the network’s main news anchor, surprised viewers earlier this month by announcing his departure on a Friday-afternoon broadcast. Smith had tangled on air with opinion host Tucker Carlson.

Herridge’s move is said to have been in the works for several weeks and is not tied to Smith’s exit.

It couldn’t be about money, it’s always because everyone secretly hates Trump.

That’s too bad. She’s done a great job.

Well we certainly know this isn't a reason because her story's tilt to the right. Shepard Smith was always nasty to her.

her departure may give a new boost to recent speculation that the network’s news-side employees have grown frustrated during a period when its opinion hosts have largely used their programs to lend support to President Donald Trump and his administration, sometimes criticizing news reports.

Certainly a loss for Fox but if she thinks CBS will let her do the type of investigative reporting she did for FOX, she’ll be disappointed.

Incredible! I thought she had scruples. What a sellout. She knows she will toe the stooge narratives or be completely muzzled. No less a whore now than selling herself on some DC street corner.

CBS would only have hired her if she were a liberal. That said liberals can only camouflage themselves so long just like Alisyn Camerota did.

With this move and Sean Duffy going to CNN it makes you see a different side of them.

Her real leftist tendency will now be free to show up at SeeBS. She was probably a FAKE conservative. We will see.

I’ve often thought Catherine needed to eat a couple of cheeseburgers.

Daily. For several months.

I don't think the job description for anchor is anywhere close to that of good reporter.

She is a digger, a kind of detective, if you will. One of the best at finding the truth when others are trying hard to hide it.

That talent would go to waste as an anchor who just reads the teleprompter.

That said, she might have done really well as a "news producer." But that job would ignore her skills in front of the camera.

She is in my view the best in the business.

I will miss her outstanding reporting

HORRIBLE news!
She was a great reporter!
You can bet CBS will not allow her reporting style to continue.
We’re going to really see what she’s made of -— will her reporting change like the Drudge Report did?
We shall see...

If she’s doing this for money, she won’t regret it. Not in the short term, anyway.

I would’ve thought she’d have had a non-compete clause in her contract.

If so, isn’t it interesting that FNC waived it...

Worth repeating.

She was one of the few really good reporters Fox had. Dang, big loss for Fox.
