There should be NO “American Federation of Government Employees.” All government unions need to be disbanded and outlawed.
The DOE should be moved to Albuquerque...
I like the idea, except I hope Senator Marsha Blackburn(from Tennessee) doesn’t bring some big department to Middle Tennessee where there already to much growth and too many people and traffic Jams, now if she could bring some growth about 50 miles or more from Nashville that would be nice or anywhere else in Tennessee that isn’t plagued by to many people living in it’s area.
You think Blackburn will support eliminating or even seriously cutting Education when it costs jobs in her state?
The unintended consequence of this could be that Senators and Representatives of states that get headquarters will be much more inclined to fund these agencies.
It's the same as defense contractors spreading work all across the country so their programs never get cut.
Exactly. Time to call the armies of bureaucrats, unionized, civil servants, an epic failure.
We either have to change this government abuse or change the name of the town to Trantor DC
If AFGE is against it, then it must be a good idea. ;-)
Fire 10% of these “public servants” each year Don’t relocate them. Who wants these slackers in their town?
New then where all my money is being spent.
So if 85% of federal employees already live outside of DC, what’s the objection?
If you add Virginia and Maryland to the numbers it’s probably far short of 85%. But a lot surely do work in various administrative offices, law enforcement offices, legal affairs, welfare administration etc.
I think the people of the states would object but I would move DC to the 4 corners of Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri. Or as another poster once replied to me - move it to Guam.
When we moved to Maryland, we were shocked to learn that 49% of people are employed by federal, state or local government. Sick
Federal law must be changed to be “Right to Work”. Federal laws that force federal workers to join and pay dues to unions are Unconstitutional.

AFGE tries its usual diabolically clever game by including the US military in its figures. Exclude the military and there is an entirely different picture and one AFGE does not want to publicize.
It basically is. You don't have to be in a union to be a Federal employee.
F#CK’EM; if the agencies they serve are moved they will either follow the fat or cease to exist.
Trust me other local service agencies will take up the slack (as it should be).
You have to have read Arthur C. Clark to get that reference.
I am fairly sure what you wrote is not true. Under federal law for a federal work center (does not cover state employees), if a union covers a federal work center, all employees of that work center are forced to join the union.
https://nlrb.gov/rights-we-protect/rights/employer-union-rights-and-obligations
“The NLRA allows employers and unions to enter into union-security agreements, which require all employees in a bargaining unit to become union members and begin paying union dues and fees within 30 days of being hired.”

from Wikipedia: Trantor is a fictional planet in Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series and Empire series of science fiction novels. Trantor was first mentioned in Asimov's short story, "Black Friar of the Flame", later collected in The Early Asimov, Volume 1. It was described as a human-settled planet in the part of the galaxy not ruled by an intelligent reptilian race. Later, Trantor gained prominence when the 1940s Foundation series first appeared in print. Asimov described Trantor as being in the center of the galaxy. In later stories he acknowledged the growth in astronomical knowledge by retconning its position to be as close to the galactic center as was compatible with human habitability. The first time it was acknowledged in novel form was in Pebble in the Sky.
