One supposes that preferential treatment in things like College Admissions exist, in large part, to redress past wrongs. We can argue the merit of that, but claiming that you were descended from an oppressed group when there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE of it seems to me to be the exact thing Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman are now being prosecuted for. If Warren has cause for redress from anyone (and that is a big if), it seems like she should more appropriately try to shake down Mexico, Colombia or Peru.
That sanctimonious virtue signaling hypocrisy gets to be increasingly expensive. They deserve it.

As FYI the so-called ethnicity results of autosomal DNA testing won’t necessarily detect a single ancestor 5-6 generations back. DNA is not passed equally from parent across siblings. One brother may get the traits and a sister may get nothing. The ethnicity models are based on average statistics and are basically worthless in detecting a single ancestor so far back. I’ve had many DNA tests and ignore the ethnicity results.
The DNA tests ARE useful in matching distant cousins. This is the reason to get a DNA test in order to network and perform real genealogical research. The ethnicity garbage is the bright shiny object the DNA companies use to suck in the lazy amateurs and get their money.
So if Warren knew a known descendent from her cherokee ancestor, she could check her DNA vs the distant cousin to see how many chromosome segments match. Otherwise she should shut her pie hole.
