129 REPUBLICANS REBUKE TRUMP AS HOUSE VOTES TO CONDEMN PRESIDENT'S SYRIA TROOP WITHDRAWAL
Newsweek ^ | Oct 16 2019 | RAMSEY TOUCHBERRY

Minutes before a small group of key lawmakers were scheduled to discuss the sudden withdrawal of all U.S. troops from northern Syria with President Donald Trump, 129 House Republicans broke ranks and voted Wednesday to rebuke decision.

The move to cross party lines and vote with Democrats to condemn the overseas directive showed the overwhelming bipartisan opposition and frustration with Trump for wanting to remove personnel from the Middle Eastern region as Turkey takes military action against Syrian Kurdish forces. The Kurds are American allies who the U.S. has fought alongside for years in an effort to eradicate ISIS from Syria.

The final vote was 354-60, with all of the no votes coming from Republicans. Top party members voted for the measure, including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, GOP Policy Committee Chairman Gary Palmer (R-AL) and Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), the top Republican on the Foreign Affairs Committee who cosponsored the legislation with the panel's Democratic chairman.

The Turks didn’t invade to fight Syria or Russia. They came to destroy the Kurds and create a buffer area under their control in northern Syria. The Kurds in Syria and Iraq fought with US forces against ISIS. Our recent allies have now been abandoned to the tender mercies of the genocidal Turks. The Turks practiced genocide against the Assyrian Christians in the last century and will now take a shot at the Kurds, Christians and Yazidis of Northern Syria. Many will die to appease the Islamist Erdogan who wants to recreate the Ottoman Empire. I can’t figure out how this is either morally right or in the best interest of the United States. Ppl

When someone with no backbone wants to get us into a war, I always ask myself if this is worth sending my son’s to die.... the answer is always NO.... send the politicians son’s and daughter first... see how that goes over

129 little shitstains huh, Good size for a Rifle Company.

Tell them to go buy their plane tickets and we will see to it they get armed.

If the Kurds are that important to them, they should be willing to spill their own blood for the Kurds!

Things like this > why we don't have the majority in the House.

Exactly so. Kevin McCarthy is not a wartime general, and we are at war.

Grab your rifle and buy a plane ticket, I am sure you can find your way to a Kurdish fighting unit.

After all a lot of stupid American boys and girls managed to find their way to ISIS.

If you feel that strongly about it, JUST DO IT!

Let em try to pass a declaration of war on someone.

We’ll see how many “rebuke” him then.

Among those voting with the Democrats were House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, GOP Policy Committee Chairman Gary Palmer (R-AL) and Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), the top Republican on the Foreign Affairs Committee who cosponsored the legislation with the Democratic Foreign Affairs committee chairman, Elliot Engel.
