AUSTIN, Texas Texas GOP House speaker sought help ousting members of his own party in 2020, called a female lawmaker vile and said President Donald Trump is killing us in pivotal races in a secretly recorded meeting with a conservative activist released Tuesday.
House Speaker Dennis Bonnen also profanely disparaged another Democratic House member in the hourlong tape, which also reveals other political scheming and has thrown the GOP-controlled Legislature into disarray at a fragile moment when their majority is at stake.
The tape has uncorked the biggest Texas political scandal in years. Democrats filed a lawsuit accusing Bonnen the third-most powerful Republican in the Texas Capitol of breaking campaign finance laws during the June meeting with the head of a conservative group called Empower Texans, which has spent lavishly in pursuit of pulling the Legislature far to the right on issues such as abortion and guns.

Nutless wonder.
Why is it I never see/hear secretly recorded Dems?
A Bush republican.
We found out schiff met with the whistle blower. Not a recording but certainly helped us.
CNN getting hit hard now by Veritas.
There are other things going our way.
We just can’t depend on R congressmen to do any of it.
And in this case this POS was turning on Rs so it was a good thing
Trump takes time out of his $%#@% day to go help candidates win.
Maybe these Texan politicians should be more like him and maybe they wont supposedly be in such trouble. Just wearing a cowboy hat and cranking up the Texas twang, is no longer going to cut it.
Isn’t this the Rino who kept the keep the creeps out of the girls locker rooms and showers law from getting a floor vote?
Because THEY would go to jail or be sued into oblivion.
See: James O'Keefe.
Trump takes time out of his $%#@% day to go help candidates win.

Without major help from President Trump, Beto could very well have won a Senate seat.
Is it possible that the Washington Post is trying to organize a Republican circular firing squad?
If Texas Republicans are anything like Georgia Republicans, they should take self-responsibility. Texas and Georgia have created job making machines. They are sucking in jobless workers from jobless Blue Urban areas.
Texas Republicans should be welcoming those immigrants and asking them “Why is it there are so many jobs in Texas, Georgia, Florida and other Red states and no jobs at all in Blue Urban areas.
The urban immigrants are probably 60-40 Tribal Democrats who are ripe for conversion to a new tribe. All the Republicans have to do is wake up and seize the opportunity. As it is only five of the 60 wake up and switch on their own. But another 30 of the 60 would switch is Republicans would wake up and they wake up the immigrants.
If Huston can convince them to switch baseball team allegiance and Dallas can convince them to switch football team allegiance, then the Republicans could win the political game.
But the Repubicans have to take to the field and play the game to win.
If Texas is anything like Georgia, the Republicans are hiding in the country club club house unaware that they are needed in the game.
The same is true of Koch-AFP, and of Heritage, and of CATO. They preach to the choir.
Texas GOP House speaker no more I would think.
Bonnen has been out of his league since shortly before his first election.
Since then, Bonnen’s biggest legislative priority has been Bonnen. He quickly forgot he was not elected to rule but to represent, and not just the highest contributor. He’s way past his sell by date and his arrogance and ego have long surpassed his utility.
The 1st report I heard of this was that Bonnen told the R’s they couldn’t target incumbant D’s.
Huh? Isn’t that the point of elections? We want to win from their side.
Bonnen also said they couldn’t attack him or one of his buddy’s. RIGHT??????? He should be the 1st we go after.
Sounds like this guy IS a Dem.
He just has an (R) after his name.
There's nothing like a DC ComPost concern troll.
