The Republican Party is set to win a large majority of all future close presidential elections, even contests in which they lose the popular vote, according to a recent study.
GOP candidates for president can expect to be victorious in 65 percent of future presidential elections and University of Texas at Austin researchers analyzed why "inversions" where the popular vote winner loses the overall election has happened twice since 2000.
The study authors found that the Electoral College's winner-take-all approach favors Republicans and has pushed them to victories in 2000 and 2016.
The researchers concluded that inversions will occur more and more in 2020 and beyond unless a policy change completely dissolves, rather than reforms, the Electoral College.
The study released by the National Bureau of Economic Research last month...

OK, get rid of ‘winner take all’
The electoral votes would be by county won. within each state.
I was going to post something similar.
make it county by county and no Democrat ever gets more than 15-16%
Love the smell of fear and desperation on Americas enemies within.
Since the EC is based on congressional districts plus one for each Senator, Why not give the E.C. vote to the winner in each dist. Then the two for Senators could go to the popular vote winner in that state. Example: IN two has more Republican votes for Potus than dem. The Republican candidate would get that electoral vote. If the Rep. Candidate carries the state he/she would get the 2 votes allocated for each Senator.

You can bet your bippy that if the inner city and surrounding suburbs were predominately R that the LIBs would be trying to expand the Electoral College to make it more favorable to the ‘population underdogs’.
Thanks IOW, it's not a study per se, just a policy paper conforming to DNC talking points..
Excellent addition and great point, my good FRiend.
Thanks.
Putting it simply: THE ONLY REASON THAT THEY WANT THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE REMOVED IS THAT THE DEMONRATS HAND PICKED POS KRAZY KILLARY KLINTON LOST. AND THAT WAS WITH HER RIGGING THE PRIMARIES AND TRYING TO DO THE SAME WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION!!
“More imbeciles confused as regards the difference between a republic and a pure democracy.”
That irritates me too, there are so many who think it is only a matter of “semantics” with no real difference in meaning but the founders specifically guaranteed a republican form of government in the constitution which nowhere mentions democracy which the founders considered an EVIL system. There are huge numbers in this country who think they know that Abraham Lincoln was a democrat and if they even know the name George Wallace believe he was a republican governor and if asked what form of government the constitution guarantees will answer a democracy. Many of these are supposedly highly educated people. WILLFUL ignorance is a huge problem in the USA.
Tough. Maybe if your “popular vote” margin comes entirely from a couple big states (rats now) or a region where you dominate by violently suppressing the opposition (rats in the South, back in the day), you don’t deserve to win and weren’t intended to.
Just to be clear, no Clinton has ever won a majority of votes cast in any presidential election. Each won fewer than 50% - a plurality. As the presidential election is 50-ish separate votes, that is the only majority that matters.
