Rain or shine, cold or warm, false information or not, the Columbus Day parade will take place Saturday morning in Bloomfield.
The event was never in question. But there was certainly some confusion.
Thats because someone went around Bloomfields business district this week passing out flyers falsely claiming that the parade had been canceled.
The flyer, which included an official Pittsburgh Columbus Day parade logo, said it has been brought to our attention that this is an offensive holiday.
Columbus arrival to America caused the mass murder of Native American people, the letter read. There are plenty of other ways to celebrate our wonderful Italian heritage and community. As a community, we can talk more about Columbus being a violent person and how we can make our relationship better with Native American people.
The flyers were passed out to at least 50 businesses in Pittsburghs Little Italy, causing confusion just days before the parade and rankling business owners and event organizers.
A lot of Italian Americans and other Americans look at Christopher Columbus as one of the first people to discover America, said Guy Costa, a parade organizer who recently retired as the citys chief operations officer. Allow the Italian Americans to celebrate our day.
Mr. Costa said he believes he knows the person or people responsible for handing out the flyers, and he asked authorities to investigate the matter.
A Pittsburgh police spokesman said Friday night that police are looking into it.
Mr. Costa said that the flyers were put through mail slots in several businesses, and because mail is under the jurisdiction of the federal government, hes hoping federal authorities get involved.

Pennsylvania leftists: are they like Illinois Nazis?
DANG!
How many “woke” Natives and PC “not sees” would refuse to accept holiday pay for Columbus Day?
PING! May the Holy Spirit SHINE BRIGHTLY ON THAT PARADE!
They are welcome to come to Staten Island and interrupt the festivities so we can take turns swinging bats at their ####ing heads.

That means the person or somebody working for the person is on camera. Somewhere.
