He who must not be named: How Hunter Biden became a conversation-stopper
The Hill ^ | October 12, 2019 | Jonathan Turley

Hunter Biden: The mere mention of his name seemingly triggers the vapors among cable-TV hosts and their guests.

When President Donald Trump turned to the Bidens and Ukraine in a speech, MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace cut off the coverage, declaring she had to protect the listeners: “We hate to do this, really, but the president isn't telling the truth.” When Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) tried to answer a question about the Ukraine scandal by referencing the Bidens, “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd angrily told him not to “gaslight” the nation.

The Bidens, simply, are not what well-bred people discuss in polite company, apparently. Indeed, many journalists seem to be channeling not Edward R. Murrow, the fabled CBS newscaster, but Florence Hartley, the author of the “Ladies Book of Etiquette, and Manual of Politeness” in 1872. Hartley warned her readers to “avoid, at all times, mentioning subjects or incidents that can in any way disgust your hearers.”

edit...

If true, Biden was, at a minimum, willfully blind not to ask his son about potential conflicts or controversies. But it does not appear to be true, at least in part — because Hunter Biden has said he informed his father about the Ukraine deal.

All of this should be of some interest to the media, which has exhaustively — and rightfully — pursued foreign deals by the Trump family. And there is no reason why the media cannot pursue allegations against both the Trumps and the Bidens.

That, however, would counter the narrative that there’s “nothing wrong” with Hunter Biden’s dealings and it’s all a “lie” that’s best to ignore. As Miss Hartley explained in 1872, good manners dictate that you “never attempt to disparage an absent friend. It is the height of meanness.”

You win the Internet!

That was one reason the Republicans attempt to impeach and convict Bill Clinton was such a disaster.

The Republicans had tons of skeletons in their closets, and Clinton just leaked them one at a time until the Republicans walked away crying.

Yup, ask where is Hunter and the conversation ends. <<

if this were a republican scandal the MSM would be tracking Hunter down and have 40 reporters on 24/7 news feed in front of his house or rehab or dumpster....wherever he's living...BUT

Not a single soul has asked...Where is Hunter Biden NOW?? and what does he have to say about the allegations?....

Remember poor Ol’ Joe the Plumber? ..he was hounded 24/7 for weeks and the press investigated every friend, neighbor, and customer he ever had..plus all his personal belongings and records too.....

its like “Robert Hunter Biden” has never existed!

“the president isn’t telling the truth”

Trump will do so with great pleasure when the Ukrainians complete the investigation that he requested.

“At the same time, one of the board members was Devon Archer, a former senior adviser to John Kerry 2004 presidential campaign.”

Manafort was a senior advisor to a presidential campaign too, and had Ukrainian ties too.

Read about the judge that let Devon Archer go free:

“Senator Kirsten Gillibrand recommended Abrams to fill a judicial vacancy on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. On July 28, 2011, President Barack Obama formally nominated Abrams to the Southern District of New York.”

“In 2016, Abrams was assigned to preside over a case in which Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein are accused by the plaintiff of having raped her in the 1990s, when the plaintiff was thirteen years old. The complaint was voluntarily dismissed without prejudice by the Plaintiff in September 2016.

“In January 2017, Abrams was assigned to preside over a pending case in which Donald Trump was sued by a nonprofit group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, over an alleged violation by Trump of the Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clauses of the United States Constitution. On July 11, 2017 Judge Abrams recused herself from the case when her husband, Greg Andres, began talks to join Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s staff investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election.”

“Abrams and her husband, Greg Donald Andres, formerly a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell. were married in 2001 by Judge Loretta A. Preska. As of 2017, Andres serves with Robert Mueller on the Special Counsel investigation.[citation needed]”

The silence from Republicans on this makes me think that there are many others in Congress who have engaged in similar deals. Reps as well as Dems.

It helps to explain both the establishment GOP’s hostility by those in GovCo and the Media for President Trump now, as well as their two-faced campaign promises and post election behavior / disdain for their voters year after year.

How did those many promises to repeal and replace obamacare work out for their voters?

Just for fun, look into just how many elected GOP bailed out or did NOT seek re-election when Donald Trump became President Trump.

I can respect an enemy, but not a treacherous “friend” who promises me what I want to hear while in partnership with my enemy against me.

God forgive me for what I want to do with them.

I found this during a search:

“The Thurmond rule, in US politics, posits that at some point in a presidential election year, the US Senate will not confirm the president’s nominees to the federal judiciary except under certain circumstances.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurmond_rule

That’s really not a rule, but a usually followed Senate practice. Senators “Turtle” McConnell and Graham need to get a move on with respect to judges.

I haven't seen one mainstream media outlet track him down for an interview.

They can't do it.

If they asked hard hitting questions (which they wouldn't) he could screw it up for his father.

They would have to ask softball questions which would only fuel more questions and put the press on defense by showing their bias.

Joe Biden is sacrificial when trying to impeach POTUS. His campaign is pretty much over along with Sanders. Gonna be Warren vs. Trump and will be an election to remember for years to come.

Don’t blame the reporters.

They would be fired immediately if they tried to find and interview Hunter.

The rot starts at the top!

comcast is an American enemy, more dangerous to the Republic than Russia or China or Iran. Comcast should be broken into small pieces that can be destroyed.

One factor is that Biden Jr. is an addict. It is convenient to refer to this as an illness and, thereby President Trump becomes a bully.
