...The South Florida chapter of the National African American Gun Association, also known as NAAGA, begin in a classroom.
They learn everything from first aid to Florida gun laws.
Travis Campbell: Were here to change the image of the black gun owner.
Across America, there are now 30,000 members in 75 chapters.
Its a rapidly growing group that was started only four years ago, and most members joined not just because they like the sport of shooting, but because they see this as a safe space.
Danielle Campbell, gun owner: It is inside and outside our community. We are seen as radicals. We dont get afforded the same protections that gun owners in other ethnic groups are afforded.

I suspect anybody can join. I haven’t investigated joining, but as I said, the impression that was given on the radio interview was it was for black Americans. I listened to the show for quite a while, and there was not one moment that I heard where it was pointed out that anyone was welcome. So you may be right, I am not claiming I’m excluded, I just didn’t get the impression that as a white shooting sports enthusiast I would fit into the ‘culture’ the organizers were trying to promote. And again, the name itself implies the same.
For a second I thought this was the National Interests of Gun Associating Africans.
If you were an anti-gun activist, members of this organization would fall under the heading of “people who annoy you.”
26 seconds! I should have used shorter words.
NAGGERS. Jeez, everyone knows that. Why? What did Randy think it was?
If my fingers were not on autopilot for the HTML to post an image we would have tied!
Actually, all over the Pre-WBTS South & during TWBTS a great many slaves WERE armed, as they hunted for the plantations, farms & families, both free & slave, too.
Incidentally, two of the three FIRST all-volunteer CSA regiments were PREDOMINANTLY Blacks & “mixed-bloods”, who were mostly AmerIndian-Black mixtures. = In the early days of the WBTS, many slaves were FREED so that they could BE soldiers, sailors or CS Marines & a great many FREE Blacks rushed to help defend the CSA from the Northern invaders..
(Slaves were NOT free to take the Oath of Enlistment in the CS military forces, so in many cases their owners freed them to enlist.)
The contributions of NON-Whites as combatants in the CSA is one of the great stories that are NOT told today, as that TRUE STORY “just doesn’t fit” into the MYTH that the WBTS was ALL or even MOSTLY “to free the slaves”.
(IF you doubt this TRUTH, be sure to go to the library & look for photos of UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS reunions that started in the 1880s & continued until the CSA veterans died of old age. = There are MANY Black CSA veterans in CSA uniforms at those veteran’s reunions.)
Btw, the Confederate States Marines ALWAYS had Black Marines & the various detachments & companies were ALWAYS desegregated by race/religion/national origin/creed.
OTOH, the US Marines FINALLY accepted the first few Black Marines during WWII.
NOTE: A longtime friend of mine, from my military career days, is a USMC GUNNER (a Chief Warrant Officer), Retired. - “Gus” is likely THE EXPERT on CS Marines & he told me that his research of the WBTS era indicates that the CSMC was about 25% NON-white & included Asians, Blacks, Jews, Latinos & Native American Marines from 1861 until the end of TWBTS.
(Gus is writing a scholarly book about the history of the CSMC & hopes to have his book published within 3-4 years.)
Incidentally, Gus’s grandfather was a CORPORAL, CSMC from February 1862 to the end of the WBTS & served the majority of his CSMC enlistment in New Orleans & Savannah.

Noggers. You know, people who order the whole pumpkin spice holiday season retch-worthy drinks? Well, they certainly crinkle my Fruit Of The Looms, I can tell you.
Guys, do you really want to be called naaga? I think you should let the NOW gang have that name.
Thats funny...and a perfectly defendable answer that only ticks off people in white turtlenecks and Norwegian sweaters.
Thank you for the history lesson.
I had never heard of the CS Marines.
Neither the CSMC nor the USMC was very large during TWBTS.
(After secession, the US Marines “lost” a considerable number of Marine officers & EM to the new CSMC.)
BOTH Marine groups were relatively small but quite ELITE forces that mainly were used to man the BIGGEST GUNS aboard ships & in fortresses, acted as onboard sharpshooters, kept order on both ships & on landside, as well as doing some “small unit actions” for example RAIDING “behind the lines”, on land.
Typical of the sort of “small sized actions” that both US & CS Marines participated in on land was the attack by a detachment of US Marines upon John Brown’s group of lunatics at Harper’s Ferry, before TWBTS.
(BTW, that armed action was commanded by COL Robert E Lee.)
COL Beall, the new COMMANDANT of the CS Marines, early in 1962 sent out instructions to the recruiting officers that only “- - - men of good reputation, who are religious in the faith of their choosing, are skilled marksmen, are unafraid of danger & are able to swim well are to be signed. Men who are unmarried & who have no dependents are to be preferred as other ranks.”
You will notice that there was NO requirement that anyone was to be discriminated against because of race, color, religion, nationality or place of birth. - Thus, the CSMC was PROBABLY the most “multi-racial” of the forces of either North or South.

Good information. Thank you. We must pry history from the agenda-driven hands of the radical leftists. It is hard to evaluate truth when so many work to blur history to their own advantage. Again, thank you.
