It has been only 10 days since Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared that the House was “moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry” of President Trump, and Democrats are already blowing it.
They are moving much too quickly. Democrats toss around the word “urgent” as if speed is the prime imperative—more important than finding the truth or following procedure. After explaining that events “accelerated the pace” for beginning impeachment, Mrs. Pelosi told reporters, “We have to strike while the iron is hot,” repeating the phrase for emphasis. That means House Democrats will likely hold hearings for a few weeks once they return in mid-October, and aim for a floor vote on articles of impeachment by year’s end.
The Democrats’ need for speed has already resulted in unfairness. Consider Friday’s demand by three committee chairmen— Elijah Cummings, Eliot Engel and Adam Schiff—that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo provide documents and depositions from five State Department officials starting Oct. 2.
Mr. Pompeo pushed back, arguing that two business days wasn’t enough time for those called to consult private and department lawyers and prepare to answer questions under oath, let alone for the State Department to review the requested documents to decide whether they are privileged or classified, or whether to cooperate at all.
In response, the chairmen threatened Mr. Pompeo, saying delay “is illegal and will constitute evidence of obstruction of the impeachment inquiry.” They’re bluffing, but this is how they operate. Verdict first, trial later. Break the rules. Ignore due process. And fairness be damned.
The impeachment process began not with the House voting to authorize an inquiry, as has been done previously, but with Speaker Pelosi simply declaring it is under way. This denied the opposition the right to certain protections and procedures, such as guaranteeing the ability to call witnesses

The only reason the Ukraine issue is falling apart for Biden is that he is dirty.....His son is a total F*up that never had the skill set necessary to sit on that board and Biden senior knew it at the time.
Any reasonable father who was VP would have stopped his son from taking the position knowing how it looked and the implications.....At a minimum, it reflects bad judgment and would preclude Uncle Joe from being President.
Closed door hearings allow ONE GOP present, and that person is not allowed to ask questions.
The demands to appear and for production of documents are on letters that "we hereby subpoena," but the letters are demand letters, not enforceable in court like a subpoena is.
It's a show trial with a cooperative show-trial press. It is abuse of power, which is what the DEMs are known for, regardless of their position. Make them a judge, they abuse their power. Elect them to office, they abuse their power. Hire them into some "nonpartisan" position, they abuse their power.
The criminalDems are scared that the IG and Durham reports may be released and reveal their plot to remove our president.
Biden was dirty his entire political life. He did not fall into the mud hole when he was second in command at the White House.
Anyone who respects the Offices of President and Vice President should never refer to obama as President or Joe Biden as Vice President. IMHO.
Did Biden use his son to launder foreign shake-down money for his campaign? Inquiring minds want to know.
It’s obvious to all, this is a charade not an impeachment.
The Dems just want to tie things up in investigations hoping against hope they can dirty up Trump, but they can’t and they won’t.
People will easily conclude that the Dems are wasting time and money and not doing their jobs. I am beginning to believe that if the GOP gets going, they can take back the house which would have been impossible w/o the Dems childish games and lies.
Since Rove did such a good job for GW and Scooter Libby and that fake scandal.

I think drawing it out helps trump. It doesn’t tie his hands like the Mueller investigation did. It just makes the democrats look more petty to those without TDS with every passing day.
I thank God daily that we again have a real President of the United States. After the eight year gap in which our White House was occupied by a communist who hates freedom, it's a relief to have some hope that our country will survive the globalist threat.
Maybe they don’t want the Senate to call everyone involved in Trump/Russia/Mueller/Schiff For Brains/etc
If RBG dies, the Dems will howl at the moon that any President under impeachment proceedings, should not be allowed to name and nominate a Supreme Court Justice.
You're assuming that the GOP wants majorities in both houses more than they want Trump gone. Trump is a far larger threat to their long term positions of power and comfort than the Dems ever will be. You'll notice the MASSIVE silence coming from the GOP and RNC as the Dems constantly attack an innocent man, literally for years.
They're happy to ride his coattails to some election victories, but they will not stand up for our President or for us, as we desperately try to drain the DC Swamp of those entrenched elites.
Funny how the VERY FIRST question in the GOP debates was whether Trump will pledge loyalty and kiss their ring... and yet the RNC and GOP have turned their backs on him all along. Loyalty is clearly a one-way street in the RNC.
Primary out EVERY damn incumbent with 12+ years in DC, even if it means getting rid of amazing folks like Ted Cruz. (Toss him to SCOTUS, please.) Our nation desperately needs the Establishment removed, in both parties... and this is an initiative that half of all Diem voters can get behind as well. They hate the rich and powerful, and the new younger reps are getting a lot of attention. The UniParty needs We the People, left and right, to be a UniVote against them.
And it will happen anyway. :)
Can someone like Jim Jordan put the impeachment inquiry up for a vote and force Pelosi to either call the roll or pi$$ off?
