I don’t think forgiveness of this woman has any place here at all. She doesn’t seem terribly cintrite, more inconvenienced. Ashamed a bit perhaps, but shame is what you feel when caught. The brother’s forgiveness is relevant in a society whose basic unit is the family and the paterfamilias is the entire voice ò the family. We don’t have that hêre.
Christ forgave us before we comitted our sins, and before we repented of them.
It’s HIS love, and sacrifice, that gives forgiveness, not her attempts to downplay what happened.
Forgiveness does NOT remove consequences of sin. Scripture teaches that where SIN abounds grace does much more abound.
In other words where the sin is great and consequences severe . Gods love and mercy can be on display for the world to see and experience -
God desires all to receive the FREE gift of salvation. Not FREE because it cost God the Father everything as He willing poured out the penalty for our sin on HIMSELF - God in flesh, Jesus Christ, paid our sin debt
‘The brothers forgiveness is relevant in a society whose basic unit is the family and the paterfamilias is the entire voice ò the family. We dont have that hêre.’
well put; absolutely true...
