Whistleblower's lawyers say negotiations over testimony ongoing
The Hill ^ | 09/30/19 | Aris Folley

Attorneys representing the whistleblower at the center of the Ukraine controversy surrounding President Trump say negotiations over whether the individual will testify on Capitol Hill remain ongoing.

“We continue to work with both parties in the House and Senate and we understand and agree that protecting the whistleblower’s identity is paramount,” the Compass Rose Legal Group said in a statement late Sunday.

“While discussions continue to occur to coordinate and finalize logistics, no date/time has yet been set,” they added.

The statement came hours after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said that an agreement had been reached for the whistleblower to testify before Congress.

Lawyers are probably trying to let him/her testify and yet remain anonymous and probably limit questions to Democrats and declare his/hers accusations credible.

Trump should not honor any subpoenas until the whistleblower has testified publicly. There may not be a whistleblower and hearings are a fishing expedition.

I agree with you 100%. No whistleblower on the record, no documents or testimony from Trump administration.

Schiffless says:

You can't ask him any hard questions.

You can't ask him to reveal sources.

You can't ask him about his political bias.

You can't ask him about his relationship with John Brennan.

They want security clearances so they can mine everything they can to see what POTUS and his crew have to "get in front of the story".

Whistleblower tentatively agrees to testify, attorneys say, as long as they get appropriate clearances to attend hearing

Lawyer For Government Whistleblower On The Decision To Elevate Clearance Concerns

It's as simple as that!

Once they have clearance all kinds of unassociated stuff can be funneled to them.

The idea that the "whistleblower" is anonymous is ridiculous. Witnesses to gangland murders, drug dealing, and all kinds of criminal activity where real risks are involved are expected to testify and be publicly identified. If the "whistleblower" won't come forward and publicly identify themselves, and present testimony under oath, then in all likelihood they don't exist, or know they are actually violating the law.

No need for negotiation, just send out a subpoena to them. I there is no known "them" then you don't have anything but an anonymous letter, which is meaningless.

They're trying to find an actor to play the role of the whistleblower just as they did with Christine Blasey Ford and it's not as easy as CBF because it has to be someone who would have had access to people around Trump.

First they have to find someone who can play the role then they have to coach them on what to say and how to respond to questions.

BONGINO: "The White House counsel and others have to draw the line against Schiff..... one of the sleaziest members of Congress. Schiff went before the American people in an official public hearing and read a pack of lies into the Conressional Record...... a public transcript read by Americans....then tried to cover his tracks, (saying it was only a parody). Trump should not disclose anything to Schiff, who is now in a fishing expedition."

Democrats are 'panicking' as Obama's massive illegal spying is set to be revealed by the IG. Bongino cautions:
<><> it's Trump's job to protect the office of the presidency
<><> he needs to assert his privilege as commander in chief.
<><> CIC Trump must stand firm against Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

protecting the whistleblower’s identity is paramount

What about the right to confront your accuser?

They want security clearances...

Simple solution. Indict the "whistleblower" for leaking classified information since that is what happened. At that point his defense team, subject to the normal process, can look at the classified material necessary for his or her defense. They don't need to see anything else.

The whistle blower only wants to testify if Romney,Flake and Sasse represent the Republican side.

I suspect the cabal that put this together is fighting over who will fake being the whistleblower. None of them want to appear.

Love it. IF there was a "whistleblower" who had agreed to testify, that person is scared to death now, knowing half the country will be after his scalp for the rest of his life, so they can't / won't testify and perjure themselves. A non-public testimony won't fly, so Schiff has painted himself into a corner. He's got no one willing to verify his fraud.

End result: just as dems and Schitt thought THIS TIME WE GOT HIM !....this will be the fraud that gets him expelled from congress.

Demand Schitt produce the "whistleblower" now, watch him squirm and try to back out.

Who’s to say it’s just one person, especially if a) >1 person wrote “the letter;” and b) this is hearsay.

His attorneys will say that the Republicans refuse to cooperate so he reluctantly will not testify.

What demands could dems make that aren't cooperative ? I don't see anyway this argument wouldn't be laughed out of the room. What will stand is there will be no whistleblower testimony, only some written fiction, unsubstantiated. Even some Trump-haters won't go that far.
