The first gas station in the U.S. that has been completely transitioned from a petroleum station to exclusively charging EVs opened Thursday in Takoma Park, Maryland.
RS Automotives, the local gas station, has been around since 1958.
Depeswar Doley, owner of the station since 1997, said he was already unhappy with the way oil and gasoline companies structure contracts such as limiting the use of multiple suppliers, including clauses that extend contracts when a certain volume of sales is not met and limiting maintenance support. These business factors already were pushing him to consider other options.
A nudge from his daughter was the final step in convincing Doley to make the switch to EV charging.

The convenience store is where the real profit is.
Well, then, it’s not a GAS station anymore is it?
Let’s see....it takes about 5 hours to charge a prius prime on 110/120 volts; 2 1/2 hours on 240 to go abut 29 miles on electric alone before the hybrid motor kicks in. That’s a lot of people hanging around.....just waiting. Will he be adding a restaurant, a movie theater to keep them occupied? I don’t see a bright future for this venture.

More like a “sit and wait”
Some hotel rooms above the station would let folks sleep overnight and get a really good charge.
Plus, the added revenue from the hotel room. Maybe he could offer room service, too. Late-night microwave burritos, candy bars, chips and a Slushy.
Honestly, putting those charging stations near malls, hotels, restaurants, churches, schools, gyms, places of employment, grocery stores, etc would be a much better idea.
People need to charge them while they are busy doing something else. Simply going to a charging station and spending several boring, unproductive hours sitting around waiting for your car to charge is NOT most people’s idea of a good time.
Try a W-80. Smaller in size so they may never notice you carrying.
I was thinking of a MIRV platform with a bunch of W-87’s on a D5 missile.
You know, just in case there’s a group of teens looking for $1 and not taking “I’m broke” for an answer.
If I wear baggy pants I think I can hide the D5.
The hard part is programming the targets and getting away fast enough after launch.
a bartender and a school girl leading the RAT party down the primrose path... yeah that’s gonna end in tears alright
Efficient electric cars like the leaf get about 5 miles per kWh. There are charging losses so consider 4 miles per kWH or 3 cents a mile with electricity at 12 cents / kWh. Meanwhile a 30 mpg car will cost 8 cents a mile at current gas prices.
Heres my idea. A charging station, whore house, laundromat, and car wash. Get charged, drop your load, wash your clothes, and clean up your stuff you werent wearing. Put it next to a Burger King cause you had it your way and didnt waste time.
Takoma Park is very near the intersection of I-95 and I-495, the Capitol Beltway. So yes, this is a very high volume traffic location.
Hillary probably has a Russian suitcase nuke that she bought with Uranium One money.
BTW, speaking of suitcase nukes...wonder what Alexander Lebed had on Hillary back then?
Oh man, I went FULL tinfoil on that one!! (hey at least I admit it on this one)
The Liberals of the world reject the God of Israel and His Son. So they make up their own religion, their own piety and hence, their own messiahs.
They believe they’re doing penance by elevating a 16-year-old paid operative to lecture them on their failed Gaia worship.
In order to make it pay,it looks like you would have to make more than you were previously making selling gas.
Bankrupt next year
Hell be closed in two years.

Depends on the lounge area ,, they have captive customers for at least 30-45 minutes for the high margin coffee and baked items...
How does he determine what to charge for a charge?
Does he have a coffee shop library for the interminable wait?
Or some of those sleeping cubes like the Japanese have at airports and train stations?
