President Trump on Friday dismissed growing scrutiny over a whistleblower complaint that reportedly raised concerns about a conversation he had with a Ukrainian leader, saying the focus should instead be on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's ties to Ukraine.
"It doesn't matter what I discussed, but I'll tell you this, somebody ought to look into Joe Biden's statement," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with the Australian prime minister.
Trump said he did not know who the whistleblower is, but derided the complaint as "partisan" and "ridiculous" and asserted that Biden is getting a pass because he's a Democrat.
The president added that his conversations with foreign leaders are "always appropriate."
The whistleblower complaint has been the subject of intense interest in recent days after The Washington Post first reported on Wednesday that it involved Trump making a "promise" to a foreign leader. The Post and New York Times later reported that the incident in question involved Ukraine.

The amount of money being passed to the Clinton’s by China and Russia is ridiculous. The media is in their pocket. If the 2016 election cycle was reported accurately Trump would have won by a landslide. And here we go again.
Me too, AB. The MSM's reaction to this "whistleblower" BS is disgusting. Is this another case of NSA abuse? More anti-Trump hatred?
As much as I detest Obambi, I never saw that as a big deal. Leaders of nations talk about their positions and future positions. It was just a statement about their future relationship and diplomacy matters. Tell me where I'm wrong.
The initial reporting was by Greg Miller and Ellen Nakashima... Nakashima, according to an article by former arms inspector Scott Ritter, was the reporter who worked with the DNC and Crowdstrike [a Ukrainian-American company] on crafting the Russian hacking story to explain the appearance of DNC material on Wikileaks and set off the collusion meme.
