“Let me guess, the White Man stole Country Music from the Africans, right?”
And their instruments, too! Pretty much! I’ve been watching it. However, Ray Charles swooped in to save the day and make it all better again, with his album of mainly country songs.
It’s all good, Baby!
The first two episodes were pretty PC/PBS standard, but now we’re into the 50’s and 60’s which is where my musical interest lies.
Learning how well-educated and well-bred Minnie Pearl was, was very interesting!
I got to stand on stage at the original Grand Ole Opry. It was pretty cool to think of all the amazingly talented people that stood there in the past.
Spoiler Alert: Hank Williams drank/drugged himself to death due to back problems. Patsy Cline still dies in a plane crash. :(
Me as well, great photo and as you say, imagine all the people who stood there. Lots of History, which is why I am enjoying the documentary even if it has areas with PC points of view. I'm sure my Ryman tour guide had his biases, but I am capable of doing some filtering and enjoy the historic nature and history of country music.
