Colt has been run by business types with zero knowledge of or affection for guns or gun owners. They cheapened their product lines, cut corners, ignored buyer preferences. For that matter, the Colt executives have ignored their own employees for decades.

Colt hasn’t been Colt for a long time.

If you own a classic SAA or a Python or
1911A1 from before the plastic mainspring housings, hold on to it: Colt’s dead.

Colt is just following in the footsteps of H&K, which has had sonewhat similar marketing policies for years (no doubt for their own reasons).

New Colt marketing slogan:

COLT. BECAUSE YOU SUCK. AND WE HATE YOU.

In my experience, most of their early handgun designs aren’t bad either, for their intended purpose (self defense at “bad breath” distances ;^)...

Can you use a 30 round mag on that Kel Tec SU 16? If so, they look like a good bargain.

I think the SU16 will accept any .223/5.56 AR15 mag. Not that it’s an issue for most folks, but I don’t think the little 10 round (or whatever they are) SU16 factory mags will work in AR15s, without modification.

I’ve got the S&w M&P15 with an EoTech optics.

Also have their M&P15-22.

I’m not taking them out in a boat.

When I got out of active duty Army, the National Guard unit that I joined had the M16-A1 as the rifle. We had fun at the range going full auto even though its not very practical in combat thus the A2 having three round burst.

I remember the M-16 I had in basic training in 1973 had a Colt trademark stamp on the lower receiver group. I’m not sure of the manufacturers of the M-16 and M-16A1’s I had after that. I believe the M1911’s I carried were all Colt, but now 30 years later, I’m not willing to bet on it.

I guess the competition is out selling them at lo9wer prices. There sure are enough of them making them. $349 (kit) is a lot less that what a Colt costs.

The only Colt I own: a 1975 Trooper MKIII in .357mag, and its 158gr HPs nicely interchangeable with a Henry 'Big Boy' lever action in .357mag, I have in the very large Cannon T65 Gunsafe.

"I have two Colt AR’s I wonder if they will increase in value?"

No more or less than all of the clones assembled by Ruger, Remington, S&W, Bushmaster, DPMS, Savage, Anderson, etc, etc, etc.. Notice I said "assembled". There are over 100 assemblers of AR-15's and M4's. Very few make their own parts. Most all of the assemblers just purchase the parts from only several actual manufacturers. They are all pretty much of the same quality and features. The good news is that all parts are generally interchangeable in guns produced by the multitude of assemblers.

Colt simply priced itself out of the marketplace by a marketing team that was oblivious to the civilian market.

The left didn't win anything except from uniformed folks. Please un-join that group.

Why does this even matter when you can get everything you need to make one in your garage? I met a shop owner that was keeping his CNC mill running 24/7 turning out 80% lowers. Make your own and no registration required. Anyone in the know about this is fully aware that there are millions out there.

Commercial suicide by stupid executives. Pansey assholes.

There are better buys in ARs out there anyway...So long Colt...

I think that was kind of their point. The AR market is saturated, and decent-quality ARs can generally be had for not much more than the cost of the parts right now. Colt's name doesn't command a markup in the AR market like it can for 1911s and SAAs, so expanding production to meet the civilian market isn't going to be profitable for them.

Unlike the last time, this sounds like purely a business decision, not a political one.
