I would like to live in an apartment in a city, own a pet beagle and spend copious amounts of time in coffee shops and used book stores.

I'm sure that a lot of people would like to grow up and be bum - or a Starbucks barrister - but the world depends on people who produce. The latter are justly rewarded. Bums, not so much.

I predict adulthood is going to represent a rude awakening for this larval female human.

Umm...just a word of slight correction. A person who works at Starbucks is a barista. A barrister is an English word for 'lawyer'.

The rest of your statement would still fit, though. Lawyers don't produce much, either.
