Cedar, No US price is worth a US soldiers life is a talking point too many never been there never done that use. Far far too often. Beginning with the Vietnam War.
I will yell you this, from my experience, with 26 years in the military this is complete and total BS.
What our men demand is complete and total support of their mission. What we demand is NO Political Correctness in the Pursuit of Complete and Total Victory.
What WE demand is if you send us to WAR you allow us to WIN the Fing War and not micromanage us as we conduct the war!
You send us to Kill the enemy. Allow us to Kill the enemy and not persecute us for not killing them in a Politically Correct manner. I/we are so Fing tired of civilians telling us how to conduct and win a war from their Fing couches and cushy offices.
If you turn us loose wars would end quickly and efficiently. And, with far far less casualties and with far fewer maimed US soldiers. Too many of our dead and maimed are a direct result of people and politicians who think they know better how to conduct war than the warriors.
Magnum, I meant to post this reply to Cedar. Not to you. My fault and I apologize to you for my mistake.
I totally agree with what you said! My point being...who will allow the military to win—President Trump or the next weak Democrat?
We need President Trump to win again in 2020! Why risk his election with involvement in war? If the U.S. is attacked, yes, we attack back, strongly. But we are talking about Saudi Arabia. Don’t weaken President Trump by getting him involved in Saudi Arabia’s issues.
My dad was a soldier in the signal corps in WWII. He was overseas for 3 years. They didn’t come home till the war was over. They fought to win. President Trump supports the military with the same mindset. But if he loses in 2020, who will be there to give the military support? Who will let them be sent to win? It would be Obama-version all over again.
26 years in the military I thought you would understand your place better. You work for those civilians. I understand the downside of being subject to constraints as a result, and I agree you need support and certain freedom to win in battle, but reality is you serve a civilian leadership that is sometimes fickle. 17 years ago I thought we did the correct thing toppling Iraq but all that blood was squandered by leadership that didnt have the stomach for the long haul or total war. That said I agree Iran needs a swatting as well. But rightfully so, after 18 years in afghanistan, people arent convinced it makes a difference. I know it does but one also has to acknowledge the cost.
You want support for action, I said make convincing arguments, not rants.
I see now your post was not intended for me.
