People filling in the national census are to be told officially that they can say their sex is different from the one on their birth certificate.
The new guidance runs the risk of affecting vital data regarding the population the Government needs to plan for the future.
The advice for England and Wales is set to come in from the next census, to be held in 2021.
Transgender people will be told that when asked in the survey if they are ‘male’ or ‘female’ they can choose whichever option they feel best describes their sex.
The advice will apply to both adults and children, with parents being able to choose to record a sex for their child that differs from the one on their birth certificate.
It will also be applicable to individuals who are ‘non-binary’, meaning they do not identify as either men or women, and people who have both male and female sex characteristics – known commonly as ‘intersex’.
The move by the Office for National Statistics is a departure from the last census where no such written guidelines were provided and typically people would opt for the sex they were born.
It reflects a growing trend among public bodies such as the NHS, prisons and schools to allow individuals to erase their biological sex from official records and register as the gender they feel they are – even if they have not undergone any physical changes.

Why do we just assume we are all the same species? Human this, human that. Such assumptions! How do we really know how the other feels, inside? How DARE we assume based on visual evidence?!

For decades I have placed a politically incorrect response for sex question on the census and other forms. When the sex portion comes up, I write out the word ‘please.’ Some people used to get upset at such an answer. Now, I suppose, I can complain and sue if anyone objects or questions my response.

Clever. I was thinking of identifying as a disabled black woman to get all of those government contracts.
BTW - the democrat’s “Equality Act” WOULD allow me to identify as a black woman! (The bill is a bit vague on whether I could identify as disabled. Here is the section of the bill. Note in paragraph 1b where it states “a perception or belief, even if inaccurate, concerning the race, color, religion, sex.....”
“(1) RACE; COLOR; RELIGION; SEX; SEXUAL ORIENTATION; GENDER IDENTITY; NATIONAL ORIGIN.—The term ‘race’, ‘color’, ‘religion’, ‘sex’ (including ‘sexual orientation’ and ‘gender identity’), or ‘national origin’, used with respect to an individual, includes—
“(A) the race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), or national origin, respectively, of another person with whom the individual is associated or has been associated; and

This is going to raise holy heck with their census data....
The lunacy of letting a mass insanity skew census results is beyond words.
If I choose to be a man, will I automatically develop certain body parts while losing others? Will all of my cells switch from XX to XY chromosomes? Will my muscle mass and strength increase while my voice deepens?

Then I cannot choose to be a man. I am fated to continue asking my husband and son to do the heavy lifting and jar opening for me.
What is the point of asking the question if the answer is a matter of opinion?
