A startling number of young women are unable to find a spouse, and new research from a group of economists suggests their would-be partners are just not up to snuff.

Your post reminds me of that Jack Nicholson scene in As Good As It Gets where he is asked how he’s able to write women in his novels so well.
He replies “It’s easy. I start with a man, then I strip away reason and accountability.”
And women LOVE that movie, despite the fact that he says this!
If you’re not ready, you are not ready.
One point in the article was that women "do not want to marry down", i.e., someone who is less educated and/or earns less. I knew one such gal who was well into her 40s already and was desperately looking for a man. I asked her if she had ever been engaged. --"Yes, but something happened that turned me away..."
What, I inquired? -- "I was talking to him on the phone and he put me on hold to take another call." She wanted me to agree with her that that was a deal killer since "the other call was more important than I was!"
Well, I couldn't tell her she was nuts so I made some non-committal grin or expression.
To add some detail, she was very pretty, high up in her company, made plenty of money, owned her own home and drove a luxury car.
But, evidently her standards were so high that nobody could qualify. I don't know that she ever came to the conclusion that maybe "she was the problem."
You can lose half your stuff?
Become a minimalist through attrition?
I had to put her
Six-Feet Under
And I can still hear her complain
See also the catalog of anti-male shaming techniques...
“Nag, nag, nag. Yell, yell, yell. Complain, complain, complain.
And above all ... never take responsibility for anything as long as there is a man to blame.”
You’ve met my wife?
So you admit you’re empow-pow-powered?
Yep, and there’s a surplus of cows with free milk.
And those teachers sure taught the "modern" woman well.
If I were young and looking for a wife ......... I'd just be out of luck I guess.
Enjoy your prostitutes.
Yeah. Yeah. No man on FR has EVER been to a prostitute.
Yet, somehow there is never a shortage of Johns.
B-B-B-baby baby baby why you wan’ treat me this way
You know I’m still your lover boy I still feel the same way
That’s when she told me a story, ‘bout free milk and a cow
And said no hug-ee no kiss-ee until I get a weddin’ vow
My honey my baby, don’t put my love upon no shelf
She said don’t hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself
Amen, bro.
Lifelong straight bachelor checking in here.
Who needs the aggravation. And if there’s one thing women have become these days, it’s aggravating.
Nag, nag, nag. Yell, yell, yell. Complain, complain, complain.
And above all ... never take responsibility for anything as long as there is a man to blame.
Well distilled. That is the sad fact.
It takes 2 to tango. If women are not satisfied with their options its because men they want to marry dont want them.
It is as simple as the men that women want to have premarital sex with don’t want to marry them. I don’t see how that is the fault of “husbands.” They’re just not interested in the guys who are interested in marrying them.
The internet age has given young women a wildly overstated view of their desirability. All of the hypergamy biologically built into women over thousands of years causes them to OD in this social media driven world. They have access to men in far greater numbers than at any previous time in history so feel no need to “settle.”
Anybody else remember the most famous end line in cinema history? Applies strongly here.
Hint: His name was Rhett!
Oh, plueeese.
You have achieved where you are; don’t go on the man hating trope !
internet is forever
Not really. Good luck finding anything over a few years old on the internet.
Or simply just adopt.
