Don’t take JP seriously - we had tons of people just like him right before WWII who thought that they could just sit back and watch Europe and the Far East dissolve into war and they wouldn’t have to get involved.
It didn’t take too long for them to find out they were wrong and that war comes to us and that oceans and distances aren’t the barriers they used to be.
