Over the last week or so, Gen. James Mattis has been running around hawking his new book, but it was revealed on Sunday that he's planning to cash in on his government service in a much more swampy way.

Mattis served in the Persian Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan, and the Iraq War, each effort completely & totally unnecessary, not to mention wildly damaging to America. But go ahead and make the Bushie case for these wars if you care to.

Couldn’t agree more, the jealousy of some posters on this site reeks with envy.

No one who knows what Theranos is would ever trust Mattis.

Again, says you. You, with zero geopolitical experience, zero overseas experience, and no time in uniform.

Which makes your opinions worth zero.

So that’s your Bushie defense of the Persian Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan, and the Iraq War? Really?

I’ve shed blood, muscle, and bone for my country while blowhard draft avoiders found countless reasons to shirk duty.

When you have actually done anything, get back to me.

Larger excerpt for context.

Over the last week or so, Gen. James Mattis has been running around hawking his new book, but it was revealed on Sunday that he's planning to cash in on his government service in a much more swampy way.

It was reported by Axios that Mattis is joining the Cohen group, a massive advisory firm started by another former defense secretary, William Cohen. Here's how the Cohen Group describes some of its services:

"...Understanding and intervening to beneficially affect political, legislative, and regulatory issues, including shaping public policy debates, maneuvering through regulatory processes, development of standards and regulations, securing public sector funding..."

This is also known as “lobbying.” It's quite the fall from grace: From “Mad Dog” Mattis to swamp lobbyist. But worse than that, it's not even lobbying for American interests.

Why dont you read the book by the survivor and then pimp this dirtbag mattis. By the way there were apparently TWO separate incidents where he refused to rescue his men. Two separate books were written about the slimeball hack Mattis and his bad decisions as a general.

You might want to get your facts straight before criticizing others, like me and trump, who aren’t worshipping this political hack and arent afraid to call this guy out. A general who repeatedly fails to rescue his men in peril is a disgrace to the uniform.

And here we are today, a nation rife with domestic enemies while people slobber over someone who eagerly protected the borders of Middle East nations while failing to protect our own Southern border. Please don’t parade him in front of me, he’s not my idea of a hero.

Again, so the non-serveing couch commandos are suddenly "experts" on warfare and risk. Gen. Mattis had a duty to the medevac crews every bit as important - and maybe more important - than a duty to rescue an unknown number of soldiers in an unknown tactical situation, 45 minutes away by helicopter (do the math - that's 80 to 100 miles away). So, what would your considered opinion of him be if he had launched a long-distance medevac and the helicopters and crews were lost and we added 18-20 more Americans to the death toll?

Let me know how you do in your next combat command.

Oh, that's right - neither one of you have been in combat or had command responsibility. That's a shocker!

I don’t generally believe war stories, and this is no exception. That said, I’m still waiting for your defense of the Middle East wars, and his reasons for not defending our nation’s borders.

And I don’t bother myself with the opinions of the uneducated - particularly those who don’t comprehend that everywhere in the world outside the US are our “borders” now. Have been since WWII.

The Islamist scum killed 3,000 Americans in a single day - so the Middle East is every bit as close and even more dangerous than anyone invading us from the south.

As far as war stories go who cares what you believe or not? You’re a friggin’ bystander! Your opinion has no meaning.

So we live in a borderless America, eh?

No wonder you're enthralled with a neocon, warmonger like Mattis. I thank god every day we have President Trump in office to checkmate the anti-American urges of interventionist oafs, and the low-IQ'ers who powder their asses.

Speaking of couch commandos why dont you share your military expertise with us since you apparently are an expert on leaving soldiers behind.

I stand corrected: you would not have been able to join any service with comprehension skills as low as yours. We are not "borderless" - we are entirely surrounded by proximate threats.

Thank God President Trump is vastly more aware of these things than you are.

Read my home page.

P.S.; I was critically wounded rescuing a wounded Marine while under heavy fire. Got a medal for it.

And you did what?

Is it too much to ask that neocons like you acknowledge the catastrophe that your moral preening for war has caused America? Is a total lack of reflection or responsibility with people like you possible, or does your repeating decades old war stories assuage your guilt?

One thing you learn about jarheads, they will defend each other regardless of whether they deserve it or not. Personally every marine i have ever met has either been dumber than a Rock or crazier than a psychopath. I have little regard for them. They are good for charging machine gun nests and not much else.
