California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, on Tuesday signed a bill that no longer requires any "able-bodied person 18 years of age or older" in the state to help an officer who requests assistance during an arrest.
The Sacramento Bee reported that the old law, the California Posse Comitatus Act of 1872, was common in the countrys early days, but Sen. Thanks knighthawk.
Movies in the 30s often would have a cop jump on a car’s running board and order the driver to “follow that car”. When I asked my dad about in (in the early 50s) he’d say that the law required you to render assistance.
I don’t live in that total sh*thole state. We have our own serious problems in sh*thole NJ. I will say I could pick a 100 things that are way more important to save the state than this BS worthless Virtue signalling waste of time by a useless politician.
California - fighting to become a total hellhole...
California cops will be experiencing lots of blue flu.
It is probably Department Policy that police officers should avoid enlisting third party assistance, only if the situation calls for needed help. Writing a law that ALLOWS citizins to refuse to help is a recipe for disaster.
California, you deserve the ridicule you get, the shitty situations you have, the massive emigration of your citizens and the horrible financial position you are in. Your leaders are the enemy and you keep electing them and wonder why nothing changes. The Browns, Pelosis and Newsomes are your undoing!
Wake up, don’t woke.
California is not worried about its residents leaving. One resident leaves and 10 Mexicans plus others take their place. All willing, ready, and able to vote Democrat all day on election day. In the meantime, the Democrat Party via the Government will keep them well supplied with drugs, alcohol, and sex. From taxes imposed on the working stiffs.
Then police officers should be allowed to refuse to help citizens.
Havent many jurisdictions stated that the police are under no obligation to render aid to the public despite the faithful saying etched in every cop car, “....to serve and protect.”?
