Well, duh. Confiscate all bicycles.

adding about 100 miles of dedicated lanes for cyclists

If lanes are dedicated to cyclists, what are pedestrians doing there? Good thing they weren't dedicated gun free lanes.

In MI Mo-peds and motor scooters are legal and require no driver license or license plates, insurance, and are exempt from the helmet law.

Not all, but most bike riders pay absolutely no attention to things like traffic signals, stop signs, crosswalks, etc.

re: “Since 2011, bicyclists have injured more than 2,250 pedestrians”

Yeah ... doofuses walking around with a smartphone parked in front of their face - they walk out into the traffic lanes jaywalking even.

Have seen this with my own eyes when Louis Rossmann (two “n’s”) does a livestream and takes us on a tour of lower and mid Manhattan ...

The problem is not the vehicle . The problem is people that are inconsiderate , rude, uncivil and self-centered .

Like any good socialist state, the people who work and drive pay and continue to be raped by the state for licensing fees, registration and insurance including no fault for those who have no insurance at all and are free to drive maim and kill with no repercussions while the bicyclists pay nothing and are given their own lanes on every street and avenue with no laws, no rules, no restrictions and no repercussions. An example is a street my friend lives on in queens. The street itself is a narrow single lane, so narrow you cannot open the car door if another vehicle is coming maybe 1 foot on either side for an oncoming car. On this street is painted a bicycle lane. How ridiculously stupid but this is how ridiculously stupid these politicians are. You get what you vote for

We have some big hills here in rural New England, and there are always weekend warrior bikers who think they can handle them—and find out it is a lot harder than it looks on TV.

As a driver my main concern is that they will collapse in a heap (without warning) in front of me.

But just nine of the 270 reported pedestrian injuries from bikers last year were caused by e-bikes, according to a report on the transportation-news site Streetsblog.

There are bike lanes like that in Staten Island now.

Those are the ones, who I referred to as “complete jerks”. As a long-time driver, I know the traffic laws; and, I’m especially careful to follow them while bicycling — as I have no desire to be a hood ornament. Some say licensing cyclists would help — there would at least be a way of identifying them. I’m not so sure about that, because I suspect that enforcement would be low on police priorities.

I am not so convinced about that and them saving the planet. They take away an entire lane where motorized vehicles could travel freely and congest those vehicles into less lanes causing motorized traffic to sit there and idle and pump even more pollution into the atmosphere. Without that bike lane they take away, motorized traffic would move more efficiently and be on the road running less creating less pollution.
