Kemp better not pick Nathan Deal.
That guy is WEAK.
She definitely could. Especially if there is a Black woman on either side of the Democrat prez ticket.
I just looked up Deal’s age. He’s 77.
Scratch him off your list.
Does it then follow that evil is everything to the Left?
She will weigh in alright.
This may be a good thing for us. I figured Isakson would hang it up in 2022, which would be Trump’s second midterm, and second midterms can be pretty brutal for the party who has the White House. Instead of an open seat, we’ll have a younger, more healthy incumbent to fend off whoever the Dems put up that year.
She will talk too. Her mouth is so big her teeth don’t fit
“That replacement will serve until a special election is held in November 2020 for the rest of the term.”
Replacement Senators are appointed by the governor of the states, said replacements serving until the end of the original Senator’s term ... there are no special elections to replace U.S. Senators ...
We certainly know that Kemp’s pick will not be that traitorous, POS Casey Cagle.
That’s a great idea. I think he may already be planning that.
Governor to appoint.....
>>No. Senators are replaced by the Governor of the state to complete the incumbents term. Kemp will probably make a good pick.
Incorrect. See http://ga.elaws.us/law/section21-2-542
The governor’s pick is only until the next November election (in this case 2020). The winner of that special election will hold office until 2022.
He is currently ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, a critical position in the fight against impeachment.
In the following 36 states, the governor makes an appointment to fill a U.S. Senate vacancy, and the appointee serves until the next regularly-scheduled, statewide general election. The person elected at that next regularly-held general election serves for the remainder of the unexpired term, if any. If the term was set to expire at that general election, the person elected serves a full six-year term.

Georgia is one of the above states.
I looked up Georgia and (unless changed in the last 6 years) is one of 34 states that has this procedure:
Appointment of replacement until the next General Election (in Georgia it has been said that the party of the leaving Senator nominates 3 for the Governor to pick from).
At the next General Election (Nov 2020 in this case) a special election is held to serve out the balance of the term — in this case 2022 when another election is held for the new 6 year class for that seat.
We are going through the same process in AZ

Another Bush Leaguer bites the dust.
So sorry to hear about his Parkinsons, may God be with him as he faces these trials and tribulations in his waning years.
