The initiative, Redistricting U, will send activists to provide free training and tools to volunteers involved in redistricting efforts and guide groups on how to “be leaders in the movement for fair maps.”
“Training is at the heart of organizing. It’s why I’ve always made it a priority – from my 2008 campaign until now,” Obama wrote in a tweet announcing Redistricting U, which is part of the All On The Line campaign.
In February, Obama’s Organizing For Action and former Attorney General Eric Holder’s National Redistricting Action Fund joined forces to create the All On The Line campaign — aimed at thwarting the use of so-called gerrymandering across the country.

How to district 101:
A Congressional district shall be made up of one or more state counties but with no more than than one partial county.
Any county that needs to be split by a district line shall be by either vertical or horizontal lines, but not both.
This would eliminate a LOT of dumbass hanky panky with districting.

I agree. Except I'm in Essex County which includes Newark. It would mean I would never have a Representative again. If it needed to be divided, I doubt they would use north-south lines to keep Newark away from me. I think large cities should not be part of other districts, and should be treated as counties as per your rules.

Geographically compact districts can be no created to be just as gerrymandered as geographically expansive ones. There are ways of providing more fair and unbiased district lines, but neither party actually wants fairness, they each want to look like they’re being fair while they protect their own incumbents and screw over the other party if possible.

One good use of gerrymandering would be to concentrate illegals into one district. They’re not a protected class, and not based on any particular protected class, and can’t vote(legally, anyways). If the legal voters remaining are mostly Pubbies, then they could actually win!
