I think the decision is correct. The Framers had a utopian vision of the Electors as a functioning body that would carefully select a President from a number of candidates. In any event, Elector is an office under the Constitution and the Elector casts the vote.
Our new Democrat Secretary of State, a tool with an IQ of a warm Spring day, denounced the decision because the Elector in question was a Clinton Elector who did not vote for her. But, my FRiends, consider this: Colorado has joined the Interstate Compact to effectively abolish the Electoral College by requiring Colorado's Electors to vote for the national popular vote winner. This decision also renders that legislation unconstitutional.

This actually is not a big problem. In general, the candidates and the party select the slate of electors in each state. You might get one or two “faithless electors” but that would be a rare case. The candidates just need to be sure about the reliability of the people they place on that slate of electors...
The Court made an unconstitutional decision. The Constitution guarantees the States a Republican form of government.
Article IV: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.”
What the hell would be the point of even voting? All the parties would have to do is control the mechanism of appointing the electors. This decision has to be reversed and pronto.

If the state law as passed by the legislature says they are bound, then it is indeed constitutional for them to be bound.

I thought this was well established as a matter of law. “Faithless electors” and all that. If this were not the case why would Debra Messing, et al. have spent good money to make TV ads pleading with the 2016 Electors to abandon Trump?
I mean, it was a dumb idea, but had it been an impossible, or illegal, idea, I doubt they would have run the ads. And I saw them several times in the NY/NJ market which must be one of the most expensive ones.
