A Long Island plastic surgeon was caught with an enormous cache of weapons in his car — that included five fully loaded assault rifles, body armor and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, police said Wednesday.
Tuckahoe Police officers looking into a report that Matthew J. Bonanno, 47, had threatened his estranged wife arrested him Tuesday at a bar in the Westchester County town for allegedly illegally possessing a Glock semi-automatic handgun.
Bonanno, who practices in Lake Success, was arraigned Tuesday and remanded without bail on a slew of weapons charges. Investigators are still looking into how he obtained the massive amount of weapons.
He’s being held in the Westchester County Jail. His next court date is Aug. 20.
When they searched his BMW SUV, they found a staggering arms collection.
Inside the backseat and trunk were the assault rifles loaded with high-capacity magazines as well as: three handguns, 29 more high-capacity loaded magazines, a stun gun, handcuffs, full face masks, multiple military-style knives, four brass knuckles, pepper spray, scopes, binoculars and other paraphernalia, cops said.
Police then searched Bonanno’s home in the Town of Mount Pleasant, where they found three additional unlicensed handguns.
At the surgeon’s other house, in Great Neck, cops discovered another armory of assault rifles, a shotgun, handguns, high-capacity magazines, body armor, hundreds of rounds ammunition, smoke grenades and other weapons, which were turned over to Nassau Police.

With an estranged wife, my guess is he was trying to move his collection somewhere safe. He should not have stopped in a bar, through.

As I understand New York gun laws from the free state of Missouri, it is illegal to possess a handgun without getting permission from the state. Your pistol/revolver has to be “registered” and if it isn’t, you are subject to severe penalties. If you want to move to the state, you cannot bring your handguns with you. They will have to be stored out of state until the state deigns to give you its permission to bring your property into the state, and of course, there’s no guarantee the state will grant you permission.
NYC is even worse, I’ve heard.

Is it possible that he was moving him firearms so that they would not be confiscated under the “red flag” law since the ex was making a domestic violence allegation?
Good idea but remember when PDJT said ‘Hell yes, tanks for the Military Parade’ and the Mayor of DC (for one) said tanks can’t be on city streets.
So, I guess since that was ‘decreed’, we are safe from an invasion, as I am sure the invading army will obey ALL traffic laws..(we can ‘hide’ in school zones as they are gun free).

FYI sanctuary cities in the DC area (DC and Fairfax County VA) were ‘given’ a couple hundred million bucks to set up refugee camps for the ‘displaced ‘border children’’.

While on the subject of ‘Sanctuary cities’, Montgomery County MD is blaming the Fed for the two ILLEGALS that repeatedly raped an 11 year old.
Now the County says they will inform ICE when they are going to release them...
Personally, if it were MY ELEVEN YEAR OLD, I would do all in my power to get them released......
