The fed govt REALLY put restrictions on immigration from some parts of W Europe in the 20s in favor of increased from central America.

As a side note, my wife’s brother married a girl who immigrated from Sicily. When their oldest son was about 15, they decided to take a trip to Mexico, neither of them had a passport. When she went to get one, they found out that she had never finished naturalization, wasn’t a citizen! She had 3 sisters, checked them, all were citizens. She had to apply for a green card or something, then got a passport, and just for the record, she voted every election, despite the Dems saying that non-citizens illegally here can’t vote! As a side note, my wife’s other brother is an ICE agent, so his sister in law was technically an illegal alien, married to his brother for 15 or 20 years. You can’t make this stuff up!
