Which is why MORE gun control laws are not going to change anything.
From what the mother supposedly said up to this point, you’re right on.
its just weird. He probably went past a dozen drive through places. If he wanted to kill people doesnt it seem weird to kill people and forget you were hungry?
True
Replay of the Richard Reid, muzzard jetliner SHOE bomber:
Dad was suspicious and deathly concerned about his son’s activities, thought they’d prove lethal if no intervention.
Called FBI, talked their ear off with a litany of detail about his son.
FBI DID NOTHING.
Same with the Boston Pressure-Cooker bombers; Russia screamed their heads off about the dangers this scummy pair posed.
Our Finest did nothing.
It’s like they WANT bad stuff to happen.
No one reported the crime? No report. No incident.
One problem with mental issues is there is the social stigma...no parent wants it widely known their kid has issues. There may be the old fashioned sense of shame, and then there is the fervent hope that he’ll grow out of it or keep it under control and meanwhile, making it public would ruin his chances of landing a job, etc. The father thinks he’s a therapist, they probably kept their fears in the family.
If he had threatened someone in the home there might not have been a reported crime. It was her son.
If your Mom calls the police and says she is worried because you have guns and she thinks you are not stable enough to safely have them then IMO the police should take the call VERY seriously.
It’s your Mom for goodness sake, not some idiot neighbor or whatever. The concerns of a parent should be a huge red-flag.
Does a supplier ship product without a purchase order being filed? No police report means no complaint. No complaint means no crime. No crime, no filing with the City or District Attorney. The only record would be a log entry by the officer or employee taking the call. No police action. She would have accomplished more calling a psychologist; but from what was mentioned, since they are dealing with an adult, that’s another can of worms.
Across the street from us lives a Somali refugee mother and two adult sons. We live in a very nice neighborhood, I dont know how they pay their bills since none of them work. One son is scary, obviously mentally ill, probably schizophrenic. The police are called out via 911 to this home at least once a month, its always problems with the mentally ill son.
I have expressed my concerns about the situation to the police responding to the frequent 911 calls. The police tell me there is nothing they can do, the mother wont press charges against her son. Until the mentally ill son commits a violent crime there is nothing the police can do.
Just peachy.......
CYA
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) An attorney for the family of the man charged in the El Paso Walmart shooting rampage says the man’s mother contacted police weeks before the rampage out of concern that her son had a rifle, according to CNN.
Dallas attorney Chris Ayres confirmed to The Associated Press that the call was made to police in Allen, a Dallas suburb. He declined to give details, but he and fellow attorney R. Jack Ayres told CNN that Patrick Crusius’ mother contacted the Allen Police Department to ask about an “AK” type firearm Crusius owned.
The attorneys said the mother was only seeking information and wasn’t motivated by a concern that her son was a threat to anybody. They also said the mother didn’t identify herself or her son in the call.
Sgt. Jon Felty, Allen police spokesman, said there was no record of such a call and he wasn’t aware of such a call.
....
yep, summed it up nicely.
>>Hes immature and inexperienced? And cops are supposed to act on THAT? Gimme a break.
Provide something of substance like an actual threat or past action. Sheesh!<<
Yeah, it’s scary the number of people who think the police should have acted based on that information.
She’s worried about being sued by next of kin.
re: “I believe 911 calls are automatically IDd “
There is a non-emergency number that is used for ‘routine’, low priority service calls in Allen ... calling that number is different than dialing 911, one has to give them the call-back number.
Scripted shooters always involve ignored warnings to police. Sometimes multiple agencies or incidents too, like before the Orlando Pulse attack.
“Sgt. Jon Felty, Allen police spokesman, said there was no record of such a call and he wasnt aware of such a call.”
