If I was paranoid, I'd assume (hat-tip to Benny H.) that something really bad has already happened... Particularly when the government bureaucracy is involved... That means that 90% of anything they say is false and our rulers, the bureaucrats, have accidentally opened, or allowed to be opened, Pandora's box...
Whether the topic is moslem terrorism, asteroids, or EPA-caused environmental disasters, they'll circle the wagons and the story will disappear in 2-days...
The thing to watch is whether all the industry elites, hollywood elites, and the government elites start visiting all those underground survival facilities and don't come back out...yet...

I can only hope that USAMRIID is using samples of Ebola Reston (does not transmit to humans) for their projects.

Ft. Detrick sits about a mile west of U.S. 15 in frederick and is probably less than 40 miles away from the White House (straightline distance).

Dr. Patrick kept a tight ship when he was in charge of USAMARIID. He was also a graduate of the University of Tennessee school of microbiology where I took every micro course offered in the 70’s. There was one building on Fort Detrick that was bricked up and off limits because of mishandling of a Level 1 virus. The handling of the Reston incident IMO was short of amazing by the veterinarians, 91T’s, those in charge, and the commanders of the facility.

That’s the $64k question.

The US only has enough beds for about a dozen Ebola cases. Every one that has to be closed is a big major deal. Let one of these deadly diseases hit here and we’ll soon be just like Africa with family care and tossing the bodies in the streets.
Japan had one woman hospitalized a couple days ago. She was tested for Ebola and the test came back negative but then her temp rose and last I heard they were keeping her hospitalized in case.

A few years ago one of the biological repositories that provide biological pathogens to authorized research labs mistakenly sent live samples to a lab instead of the inactivated ones that were ordered. That caused a bit of concern to say the least. I wonder if this safety review is related to that incident.

I know some of the samples were anthrax, I don’t recall flu being involved but it might have been.
