Most blacks that move from other states will tell you they’re treated a lot better here.

You misunderstand the purpose of the 3/5 compromise. It was demanded on the part of states with low slave populations so as to decrease the political power of those with higher slave populations by reducing their population counts. As such, Alabama would naturally have been opposed to it.
