In 1982, I rented duplex with a Mexican family on the other side. One day, they slaughtered and gutted a pig in the back yard. Cooked a stew and let me have some of it. Delicious. However, a lot of Americans would have been offended. Due to my background, it was no big deal.
That being said, it wasn't a religious event. If the killing of the animal is a religious event, then I would not want that happening here. They can do that in the country from which they came.

I would guess that what happened is that the beef got loose.
It became obvious that it would be killed.
If it were shot or killed in any other manner, it would have not been fit for the meat market.
So the owner who alreay paid for the animal quickly took matters into his own hand and killed it in the only way he could and still recoup losses.
