The House of Representatives approved the Raise the Wage Act Thursday, which would boost the federal minimum wage for the first time in a decade.
In a 231-199 vote along party lines, the House passed the legislation that would increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour, more than double the current rate of $7.25. In an even more drastic increase, the bill calls for having the same minimum wage for tipped workers, raising it from $2.13 an hour.

"House passes bill to raise minimum wage to $15 an hour"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponents Argument
Patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification feds the specific power to dictate a national minimum wage.
A previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices had put it this way about the feds constitutionally limited powers.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
In other words, corrupt career lawmakers are exploiting low-information voters, voters who have probably never been taught about the feds constitutionally limited powers, such lawmakers undoubtedly hoping to effectively buy their votes with this bill in 2020 elections.
By passing this bill, desperate Democrats and RINOs left over from the lawless Obama Administration are also helping to continue to unconstitutionally expand the already unconstitutionally big federal governments powers.
Remember in November 2020!
MAGA! Now KAG! (Keep America Great)
You got a good cook book? Or are you going to stop eating?
Aside from the fact that according to basic economics a minimum wage is a price support that reduces employment, I have another problem with this:
The cost of living varies dramatically around the country. So, a national minimum wage can be very suppressive of employment in a low-cost of living area, while simultaneously being almost meaningless in a high-cost area (because its not a living wage and will only affect jobs you’re supposed to grow out of, like HS work at a fast-food place).
While you may be employing sarcasm, I would still point out that someone has to make and sell physical goods. Otherwise programmers will not have anything to eat.
You bet! No problem.
So now waiters would get $15.00 plus tips!!! That shouldn’t shut down too many restaurants. Either that, or a hamburger will cost $35.00. Fries extra.
Yep, I noticed that after I posted. :^)
The globalist Free Traitors and their GOP buddies off shored those jobs.
Wow how ignorant. Tipped staff do not make min wages. When I worked for tips I made half of minimum wage. I think that is the law.
When’s dinner?
You are becoming more and more of a socialist by the day
Neither should the wants and needs of those on minimum wage.
People’s circumstances are not delegations of power to Congress to do anything about them.
I owe the restaurant nothing, nor you. (But if I knew you, I would likely invite you for supper.)
Were Democrats. We kill babies and jobs.
Very reasonable.
House passes bill to eliminate all jobs that pay less than $15 an hour. Good thing the democrats are ensuring a steady flow of illegal aliens who they can pay less than minimum wage to take care of their yards, clean their houses and raise their kids.
Except this will take most( or alot anyway) off the welfare food stamp roles. The tax payer wins here, bigly. I, for one, am tired of subsidizing small business that hire these people.
Nancy is honored she just put 3 or 4 million people out of work ,wait this must be about Trump
They should make the minimum wage $1500 per hour. Then everyone will be rich!
/s
Senator Mitch McConnell should DOA this.
