No need to apologize. The shortcomings of Cruz are well known and have been discussed for years.

As to trust...the man lives in DC, works in a government building so trust is pretty much out the window. Loving our constitution, he still is willing to ignore when necessary.
Was a fan, a fan no longer but will give him a nod when deserving.

It's a shame.  Cruz has oratorical agility in spades.  But he can never touch Trump, who speaks from the heart and doesn't give a "speech" unless he has to.

Did you see his talk at the Social Media Forum?  It was pure magic.  One of these days I'm going to transcribe it and analyze it.   A few quick notes:

• He goes out of his way to praise people or at least mention their name.  Think of the ripple effect of that practice: for every person he praises, he's winning, say a thousand votes in terms of family, friends, and people who pass the story on.

• He broke up the raw speech with dozens of parenthetic remarks, asides, little stories, and jokes.

• Also to break up the speech he invited champions to come up and say a few short words.  They did, they were sharp people, and so you begin to appreciate the vast network of capable people behind Trump.

• Even a fly buzzing around him allowed him to make a joke: "How did a fly get into the White House? I hate flies!"  Presidential?  Certainly not for the pompous Boobambas, Rat Romneys and Eric Ericksons.  But very effective in showing the authentic human side of a great man who shares the same emotions as We Deplorables.

• He worked in plenty of plugs for himself and his Administration so the Fake News would have to carry some of it.  But also it's a great refresher for his fans who tend to forget all the things he's done because it's such a long list.
