Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs chief of staff recently admitted that the Green New Deal was not conceived as an effort to deal with climate change, but instead a how-do-you-change-the-entire economy thing -- a remark likely to fuel Republican claims that the deal is nothing more than a thinly veiled socialist takeover of the U.S. economy.
The interesting thing about the Green New Deal is it wasnt originally a climate thing at all, Saikat Chakrabarti said in May, according to The Washington Post.
Its goals include net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, job creation, massive infrastructure investment, a guarantee of clean water and food, and an access to nature. It calls for the government to upgrade buildings and power sources to meet a 100 percent clean energy goals.
But, perhaps hinting at what Chakrabarti said, it also includes a job guarantee plan that would provide all people in the U.S. a family-sustaining wage, family and medical leave, paid vacations and retirement security.
Republicans... seeing it as an example of how far left the Democratic Party has shifted, citing an FAQ from AOCs office that said that deal would make air travel obsolete and give economic security to those unwilling to work. It also spoke of getting rid of farting cows. Her office subsequently distanced itself from that FAQ, saying that it was published in error and was "unfinished."
The deal failed in the Senate after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., put it up to a test vote, with dozens of Democrats voting present.
I could not be more glad that the American people will have the opportunity to learn precisely where each one of their senators stand on the 'Green New Deal': a radical, top-down, socialist makeover of the entire U.S. economy, McConnell said ahead of the vote.

McConnell certainly handled the GND in a way that showed just what a fringe notion it is.
This climate nonsense is nothing but a vehicle they are using to implement global socialism.
At top levels I doubt many of them even believe in climate change.
Lets reform capitalism by moving people from productive jobs in useful industries and pay them to make useless junk instead. At the end of the day genuine capitalism works because it rewards those who create value in the market thereby making a lot of people more wealthy.

I agree, but you have to admit, it’s brilliant. The left has most people under 40 terrified the world is coming to an end. And if the left gets their way, there is no metric that will ever prove them right, or wrong.
Of course, allowing the left to take over the public school system and churn out a herd of sheep unable to think critically is all of our fault.
It’s the Communism, stupid.
Instead, she wants businesses in her economy to focus on really important things like sustainability, carbon credits, diversity, and deprivation. It's a shifting of standards.
In the AOC economy, "being green" matters more than whether or not you can buy milk or bread from the store. "Mass transit" is more important than being anywhere important on-time (like a place of business.) A socialized healthcare system is more important than the actual health care provided.
Fake Climate Change has ALWAYS been about political power.
I remember back when the Soviet Union collapsed a European Communist Party (IIRC Netherlands) was in limbo not knowing what to do.
They were told, ‘Join the environmental Movement.’
A socialist takeover means total confiscation of private property. However easy to understand, I doubt most dems even know what to that implies.

I am thinking that such delusional action would imply civil war. Unless, of course, enough time passes for the left to import brown shirts from other nations, in numbers large enough to overwhelm the opposition to their destruction.
