Gov. Gavin Newsom says President Donald Trump has called him and expressed commitment to helping California recover from two earthquakes that hit the state in as many days.
Speaking to reporters after touring the damage zone, Newsom said Saturday that he and Trump talked about the struggles California has been through, including two devastating wildfires that happened just six months ago.
The Democratic governor said "there's no question we don't agree on everything, but one area where there's no politics, where we work extremely well together, is our response to emergencies."
"He's committed in the long haul, the long run, to help support the rebuilding efforts," Newsom said of Trump.

Get Federal money for "disaster relief", then use the money to pay gargantuan pensions. That is what Newsom has in mind. That's the way they always do things in California.

Despite the tilt of the state, he knows that in raw numbers, there are more conservatives in CA than in any state, including magnificent Texas. And I believe that I read, probably here on FR, that a significant dollar amount of donations to his 2016 campaign came from CA conservatives.
I think he is going to ensure that high numbers of Californians who support him will have a reason to come out and vote, if only to end this popular vote nonsense.
Or if he doesn't want to appear quite that callous, just offer to match state funds dollar-for-dollar.
Put those illegals to work on rebuilding.

To the rest of us, we would expect nothing less than full cooperation from President Trump when fellow Americans are in trouble.

Sure it does. All that federal rail funding that California hasn’t given back can be used for this.
Areas outside of LA and San Francisco are fairly conservative. It’s not their fault that they are outnumbered by Dems. These are Americans and deserve outer compassion and our help.
