It was way overblown. The MSM was trying to make it look like Haig was going all "Seven Days in May". Exactly right. Haig was one of Reagan's "hawks" and Democrats always needed a diaper change around him.

Yep. Overblown. People need to remember we were in the height of the Cold War. Best not to show disorganization and splitting seams. Haig didn’t really mean he was asserting authority and anyone with a brain (not the media of course) knew it.
