The California Legislature voted Monday to tax people who refuse to buy health insurance, bringing back a key part of former President Barack Obama's health care law in the country's most populous state after it was eliminated by Republicans in Congress.

Legal residents will have to pay for health insurance that they don't want or face a fine to pay for health insurance for illegal aliens that they don't deserve.
I wonder at what point are the people of CA going to wise up and reject the liberals?
The US constitution be dammed, Californians have no rights as long as Democrats hold super majority power.
The state of CA. keeps pushing the envelope the time is coming WHEN these ASSHATS wont be in office any longer and wont know WHAT THE HELL HIT THEM!!! Giving a fine to taxpayers to pay for illegals healthcare when the taxpayer CANT AFFORD their own healthcare is INSANE!!! People WONT stand for this, the pendulum is swinging mark my words!!!
It looks like the only people in California who have “rights” are non-citizen criminals.
Yeah, but we CA FReepers donate the most to FR and we are more conservative than you think! FR is based in CA! Plus our weather and beautiful scenery makes yours look like garbage! < /CA FReepers >
[[The penalty won’t apply to everyone, including people living in the country illegally. Lawmakers on Monday also approved a bill that would expand government-funded health insurance to low-income young adults living in the U.S. illegally.]]
There it is, the tipping point.
While the proposal easily passed the Legislature, it brought a rebuke from Democratic Sen. Maria Elena Durazo from Los Angeles. She criticized the bill for not providing health care coverage to people 65 and older living in the country illegally.
“We’ve missed an opportunity to create fairness and inclusion,” she said
Fairness my @ss
I can’t say that I disagree with the general idea of taxing people that refuse to get insurance AND still expect to be taken care of by the state if they get sick or injured.
I think to do this right the state should give people the following choices:
1. get health insurance on your own, or
2. don’t get insurance but when you get sick or hurt, you’re on your own. No free emergency care, no free medical care from the state, county or city. You’ll have to depend on what you have, family, friends or charities. Taxpayers are off the hook...or
3. don’t get insurance, instead pay the state the equivalent of minimal health insurance through taxes. If you fail to do that then you’re back on #2.
As for the illegals crap, the whole thing is so disgusting it’s not even worth a comment other than that.
you mean stupid, idiotic OUTSIDE OF CA Freepers still pouting their crap and STILL do not know that FR is located in Fresno California?
Until now?????
To Hell with California seceding, the other States should expel it from the Union. Let it spend a few years as a “People’s Republic” and then it will be begging to be readmitted as a State. As it stand now, California is as much American as is Cuba.
No need to get testy. Just some good-natured ribbing. CA is a great state....back when the Beach Boys were playing (ROFL).
Ironguts Californians
Lets give California and Hawaii independence. I still have a flag with 48 stars
Since they are punishing people, why isn’t guys a 14th amendment violation?
Illegal aliens are exempt for the health care mandate they are also exempt from the mandatory Selective Service registration on their 18th birthday. Equal protection out the window.
i suggest everyone in californai leave, cross the border into mexico- denounce their US citizenship- then sneak back into cali as illegal aliens, and get everything for free-
suppose EVERYONE in Cali who doesn’t have insurance refuse to pay? What is california gonna do? Jail everyone?
[[Let it spend a few years as a Peoples Republic]]
I bet if we did that californai would look very much like venezuala in a very short time
