President Trump has expressed his willingness to open talks with Iranian officials without any preconditions saying that he doesnt want a war with the Islamic Republic, but if it comes down to an armed conflict it will be obliteration like you've never seen before.
In an interview that aired Sunday on NBCs Meet The Press, Trump said the only line he was drawing in the sand when it came to discussions with Iran was that the country could not have a nuclear weapon.
I'm not looking for war and if there is, it'll be obliteration like you've never seen before, Trump said. But I'm not looking to do that. But you can't have a nuclear weapon. You want to talk? Good. Otherwise you can have a bad economy for the next three years.
Trumps interview, which was conducted on Friday, came just hours after he announced on Twitter that he had called off a retaliatory strike on Thursday night following the downing of an unmanned U.S. drone by Iran.
When questioned why he called off the strike at the last minute, Trump said he thought the loss of life that would have occurred in Iran was not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone.
I thought about it for a second and I said, You know what? They shot down an unmanned drone, plane, whatever you want to call it. And here we are sitting with 150 dead people that would have taken place probably within a half an hour after I said go ahead, Trump said. And I didn't like it. I didn't think it was, I didnt think it was proportionate.

Of course it could be you that is wrong but maybe not. After all no one seems to care if the border is closed or the wall is really a fence or that it is only 18 feet not 30 feet, and soldiers can certainly be used to diaper those poor immigrant, rent a child, refugees.
Maybe we should tax those remittences ands the money to build a few free health spas South of the border.
If he does everything exactly right, except one thing, will the Republic Survive? If the one thing he does wrong is immigration then no it won't. The new country will survive but that country will not be a country your parents would recognize.
So let’s let time tell. For the interim, I’ll maintain the faith that I had in Trump ‘til now. The status quo is unacceptable as a long term situation. But he used the threat of tariffs to get Mexico to guard its own border. He used imminent action against Iran, halted at the last minute, to attempt to induce Iran to negotiate, and when they did not, he put on more sanctions. He used the threat of massive round-ups and expulsions, postponed at the last minute, to attempt to induce Nancy to pass his reforms. This is the pattern. Threaten, stand down, offer with threat still pending. If the two weeks pass and he does not make good on his threat, then time has told and he’s a blowhard. But he took us this far, and I’m willing to bet that he will put the pedal to the metal when/if Nancy fails to act. He is not bluffing.
