WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Saturday delayed a nationwide immigration sweep to deport people living the United States illegally, including families, saying he would give lawmakers two weeks to work out solutions for the southern border.
The move came after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Trump on Friday asking him to call off the raids. But three administration officials said scrapping the operation was not just about politics. They said Immigration and Customs Enforcement leaders had expressed serious concerns that officers’ safety would be in jeopardy because too many details about the raids had been made public.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to speak about private discussions.
“At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “If not, Deportations start!”
The operation, which sparked outrage and concern among immigrant advocates, had been expected to begin Sunday and would target people with final orders of removal, including families whose immigration cases had been fast-tracked by judges.
The cancellation was another sign of the Trump administration’s difficulty managing the border crisis. The number of people crossing the U.S.-Mexico border has risen dramatically under Trump, despite his tough rhetoric and hard-line policies. Balancing a White House eager to push major operational changes with the reality on the ground is a constant challenge for the Department of Homeland Security.

On Saturday morning former ICE Director Tom Homan went off on the government official who leaked the cities involved in the upcoming ICE raids.
Homan outed acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenanfor resisting the upcoming ICE raids and for leaking the timing and location to the press.
Tom Homan: As far as these mayors from sanctuary cities, I just wish they’d just shut their mouths. Because you want to talk about separation of families? Separation of families are the Angel moms and dads who’ve been separated from their children forever because illegal aliens walked out of your sanctuary jail. Every one of those mayors ought to be ashamed, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, I could go on and on… You’ve got the acting Secretary of Homeland Security resisting what ICE is trying to do.
In the Washington Post story, and numerous media outlets, he does not support this operation. And I tell you what, if that’s his position then he’s on the wrong side of this issue. You don’t tell the men and women of ICE a day before they go out there to do this operation. When this story was leaked, they gave the location of the cities, the day this was supposed to start, how many targets. This leak, which I know where the leak came from, I think we all know where the leak came from. That story only benefits one person. Put these officers at greater risk of harm. I know the president said we’re going to do an operation, one million people in a week. He didn’t give the location… He didn’t give the number of targets…

Beats me...I don’t have the “inside” information that some in here seem to think they have when they say President Trump blew it this time or should shut his mouth...
My whole premise for my comment comes from seeing that usually after a few days after the hand wringers and pearl clutchers in here say it’s all over and the President f*cked up this time, it comes out that he knew exactly what he was doing or saying and he was right....

Check the precinct list of registered voters where these people resided. If they’re on that list, Federal crime, charge them and those that enabled this
Delay gives pervocrats time to clean up voter lists and remove illegals names . Election fraud is what also should be looked at before kicking them out
