Democratic lawmakers warn that Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and other White House hopefuls taking shots at front-runner Joe Biden are playing with fire and could wind up helping President Trump win reelection.
While there are disagreements about the former vice president in the Senate Democratic caucus, Democratic senators are rising to his defense after Booker demanded Biden apologize for recounting his collegial relationship with two segregationist former senators, James Eastland (D-Miss.) and Herman Talmadge (D-Ga.).
Lawmakers fear the 2020 Democratic presidential primary field is becoming a circular firing squad, with Trump winding up as the beneficiary of internecine fighting.
“I think everybody is picking on him, press as well as others. He’s the front-runner so he’s the one to shoot down, so to speak,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who served with Biden for years in the Senate.

Are they kidding? What’s in it for any of the others to just sit back and let the MSM and the Democrat Party Establishment anoint Biden? If they want the nomination they’re going to have to fight for it and that means tearing down Biden.

I think the DNC would rather not have Joe Biden as their nominee, however, he will remain the anointed one as long they feel he is their best chance to take back the White House. The thing to watch is the person the DNC selects as his running mate. That person will be the real "anointed one." Biden is frail and seems more confused by the day. If he were to somehow pull off an upset, they'll allow him to take the oath of office, then step down for health reasons after a reasonable period of time, handing the reigns of power over to Vice President Harris, Booker, Warren, or whoever. Biden gets to go out knowing he's realized his life long dream of becoming President, and the DNC gets the person they really wanted in the Oval Office.
What did they think, that everyone was going to stand down and let Biden just take the nomination without a fight?

This is a hoot. What will be funnier is watching the media try to put humpty Dumpty the Dem Party back together during the months of infighting about to begin.
And for goodness sake - dispense with the word “democratic”. Why can’t people figure it out for themselves - there is no DEMOCRATIC PARTY - it is a Democrat Party. Nothing “democratic” about it but to their ill informed/ignorant voters, it has a certain appeal, I guess. “We’re democratic but the Republicans aren’t”.
Just a teeny bit of criticism for the Dims, and nobody at The Hill wants to take credit for writing it.
