This story is horrifying, but I wonder if there is more to it than what is being reported. “Predictive neglect” is ususally brought up where the parent is too mentally impaired to be considered a suitable parent. Seems odd too that she was at 38 weeks of pregnancy, yet was traveling around interstate with insurance that was limited to where she lived. Hope she gets competent legal representaion to sort this out.

I don’t know how much you read, but they wouldn’t have been up in that area at all if it weren’t for a family funeral they attended in New Jersey. Bad judgment to take a few days in Maine before going back home to Tennessee? Perhaps. Insurance typically covers emergency care out of network, in my experience. Seems anyone who really wants to help either gets murdered or gets run off.
