The Internet has enabled the flourishing of countless subcultures, from the harmless to the less so. Lately, one of the latter groups has begun to break into the mainstream: the “incels.”
“Incel” is short for “involuntary celibate,” and as their self-imposed name implies, these mostly young men have come to define themselves by their inability to find a sexual or romantic partner. Men who identify as being #ForeverAlone have gathered online in forums such as Reddit to trade stories of woe.
These communities tend to be self-reinforcing. Members believe that their looks or personal traits have consigned them to lifelong loneliness, and similarly downbeat peers are always willing to add more fuel to that fire. And the incel community has developed elaborate, and elaborately misogynistic, theories to blame others for their plight, centered on the idea that women are shallow, stupid and cruel — exclusively choosing only a handful of the most attractive men to be with and disdaining the rest. All men should deserve a chance with women, incels tell themselves, but some men have all the luck, while they get left out.
Today, the incel subculture has become not just self-reinforcing but self-radicalizing, often with tragic outcomes. At its most horrifying extremes, self-described incels have taken their anger out on the women they believe are refusing them. At least two mass shooters have left behind manifestos identifying themselves as adhering to incel ideology and explaining their actions as taking revenge on the world that hasn’t given them the women they think they deserve.

That equation has two sides. Many women make their affections contingent on almost completely subjective assessments, they then lay at the feet of their men.
Agree. Affection (withholding of it) is one of several tools in their Manipulator’s Toolbox. Guilt is their big nail driver.
The way it seems, if you are either rich or handsome, or you look like you just got out of prison, you should have a decent shot with an attractive woman.
Of course, as Texan5 said, being a hunter, oil worker, trucker, etc. also helps.

Real macho men are caring-they are sure enough of their masculinity to be that way-they may not be all that romantic with flowery language or write poetry, etc but they show their sensitive side in their actions-an abusive man-alcoholic/drug addict or not-won’t get a foot ion the door with a real woman-I would escort him off my front porch with my 12 gauge, immediately.
Women who partner with losers and abusers are called “enablers”, the relationship is a co-dependent one-and very unhealthy-that is my professional dos centavos as a case manager...
Which is why I’ve avoided them whenever possible-now that I’m in business for myself, I can avoid the city permanently-I prefer life here in BFE with the other preppers and off grid folks...
Oh cool! I actually own a parcel in about as off the grid place as there is a little west of Taos, NM. I’ve never been there but my oldest son has. I couldn’t do it any more than I could live in the bowels of a big city. But I like the virtual unlimited freedom out in the boonies,
Of course, there is no shortage of poor relationship skills.
I try hard not to let women drive my feelings.
Many are women are taught how to control men and can’t share power, they don’t know how or are unwilling.
The 50+ dating sites are full of them. I’ve been on the sites for a couple of years, amazing the bad manners and angry women.
