President Trump's tariffs against Mexico have been "indefinitely suspended," he was proud to report on Friday night. He explained that the two parties managed to reach some sort of agreement.

I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended. Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 8, 2019

....stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 8, 2019

Last week Trump threatened a 5 percent tariff on all goods imported from Mexico and was planning to enforce them on Monday unless the government agreed to help stem the tide of illegal immigration.

According to the new agreement, which is posted on the State Department website, Mexico will be deploying national guard troops throughout the country and to the border and will be "taking decisive action to dismantle human smuggling and trafficking organizations as well as their illicit financial and transportation networks." The two countries will also reportedly be working closely to follow Migrant Protection Protocols.

"This means that those crossing the U.S. Southern Border to seek asylum will be rapidly returned to Mexico where they may await the adjudication of their asylum claims," State explains. "In response, Mexico will authorize the entrance of all of those individuals for humanitarian reasons, in compliance with its international obligations, while they await the adjudication of their asylum claims. Mexico will also offer jobs, healthcare and education according to its principles."

“The poster is obviously a Ted Cruz hater, and thinks because TC was born in Canada he was not qualified for the presidency. Totally ignoring the fact that Ted Cruz's was a natural born citizen who was born and raised in Delaware which made him qualified for the presidency.”

WTF, Kaslin? I am quoting the NYT and I’m not saying a thing about his Canadian birth.

My wife and I GAVE Ted Cruz hundreds of dollars IN THE LAST PRIMARY CYCLE!

Get your head out of your &$$.

Yes, it was the Repub Conference who cRuz said did not support POTUS, on tariffs.

Once again, Lyin Ted overplayed his bad hand.

Remarkable, considering the support POTUS gave Lyin Ted, during his squeak by reelection race.

Amazing to see the knee jerk accusations hurled against you, for your simply pointing out - with facts - the error of cRuz’ ways.

SMH.

Sadly I’m not surprised.....
....initially.....way before Donald Trump.....I was a Cruz supporter

But the very day I heard Donald Trump speak.......a day I will never forget, June 15, 2016........he won me over.
And I never looked back

Trump's critics liked to say that trade and immigration issues shouldn't be tied together. I agree that they're separate issues. I'm all in favor of high tariffs on Mexican imports regardless of whether they comply on enforcing their southern border or not.

Furthermore, we wouldn't have to worry about whether Mexico polices its southern border if we hadn't been so lax about policing our own for so long.

Same here, Guennie!!

I think you and I rode down the escalator together, with Trump and Melania, at the Trump Tower announcement.

Good question. I’m thinking
existing laws would be suspended
due to a signed agreement between
the US and Mexico during a national
emergency declaration.
