US President Donald Trump announced via Twitter late Friday that a signed agreement has been reached with Mexico, and that the tariffs scheduled to go into effect on Monday have been suspended.
Just last week, Trump announced that a five percent tariff on all goods coming from Mexico would go into effect on June 10, and would gradually increase up to 25 percent until the illegal immigration problem was resolved.
The announcement launched a flurry of talks between officials from both countries, with reports that Mexico was willing to make some concessions.
Late Friday, Trump tweeted, I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended.
Trump via Twitter said that Mexico, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States.
Trump said that details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department.

Just exactly who is ‘mexico’? Was the tortilla signed in blood? Who in the chain of command will die if they fail?
If you look at the agreement, there are two very important parts that the cartels do not control.
1. Asylum seekers go back to Mexico while their cases are adjudicated. This is major, since the last I looked when we take them into the US 98% never show up for their hearing -- they just disappear.
2. The are allowed to work in Mexico -- they get jobs, housing, etc. from Mexico.
Now I don't for a moment think that the #2 item is really going to turn out that well for the asylum seekers, but it doesn't matter. If it turns out well, they stay in Mexico, if it doesn't they go home and tell their friends not to come. Either way the flood subsides.
And, the best two things we got have not that much to do with Mexico.
A. Republicans are now on notice that trade is one more club to beat other countries into submission with. Maybe they will quit backstabbing when DJT pulls it out and uses it.
B. China is watching.
Why Friday night release?
Sunday talk shows
Lyin Ted is the biggest loser here. Would love to play five card stud with Ted. Guy cant keep his mouth shut. Cruz for president of Mexico. He is not living this one down.
Cartels fight each other viciously for their turf, so it’s hard to make a blanket statement such as the cartels control the government. There is probably a little of this but I doubt if it’s total at that. FUBAR, probably why it’s good, the SW is not Mexico.
“Signed” deal makes the difference...I’d wager they tried to get a handshake “deal” but he would have none of it...
Neither does President Trump - hence the word “Signed”....no handshake stall tactics allowed.
Call your Congressman and Senators....MONDAY!
Pence isn’t smart enough to be the lead negotiator on anything.
Pence was most likely part of the worst of the coup against Trump leading up to and in the early days of the administration. But he is unlikely to end up bounced from the ticket.
Classic 21/90. Do something for 21 days and after 90 days it is a formed habit.
After 90 days of every day doing it after the first 3 weeks that is...more coffee
Every Republican should become a “bounty hunter” a payment requiring only the IDing of an illegal alien, and resulting in a successful apprehension.
Trump could federalize the NG in certain states, and have them “detain” the criminal invaders for a quick review by ICE and then transit them to the border.
It would be “fine pickins” in the so-called sanctuary cities. Many more would likely self-deport.
Well, we have satellite surveillance capability. The border guards have been reporting historic high numbers of invaders....I'm sure any significant reductions would similarly be reported.
Whose fault is that?
Let me guess: you blame Trump.
Let’s hope this works. If it does without question he will be reelected.
I think it is because Monday was the deadline and that POTUS arrives home as the Deal is just signed. Magnificent timing for POTUS to step out of the plane
I think also that carrots and sticks were discussed, and it takes some time to codify each stick and the carrot.
God help us.
Well, then we might just find ourselves at war with the cartels and their bootlickers (as though we aren't already)
If our military is involved, it will be a very short war.
