In an effort to avoid the tariffs scheduled to begin next Monday; and not admitting they have no ability to influence the U.S-Mexico border region controlled by drug cartels; the conniving Mexican government is pledging to send troops to their southern border.
However, President Trump isn’t in the mood for more empty promises. In essence, the U.S. position led by Vice-President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is: do it, and let’s see… in the meantime, tariffs will commence until Mexican priorities are improved.
WASHINGTON – Faced with Trump’s threat to impose escalating tariffs on Mexican goods beginning Monday, Mexican officials have pledged to deploy up to 6,000 National Guard troops to the country’s border region with Guatemala, a show of force they say will make immediate reductions in the number of Central Americans heading north toward the U.S. border.
The Mexican official and the U.S. official said the countries are negotiating a sweeping plan to overhaul asylum rules across the region, a move that would require Central Americans to seek refuge in the first foreign country they set foot upon after fleeing their homeland.
Under such a plan, the United States would swiftly deport Guatemalan asylum seekers who set foot on U.S. soil to Mexico. And the United States would send Honduran and Salvadoran asylum applicants to Guatemala, whose government held talks with acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan last week. Central American migrants who express a fear of death or torture if sent back to their home countries would be interviewed by a U.S. asylum officer to determine if the chances of such harm were more likely than not — a higher screening standard with a greater likelihood of rejection than current procedures.

Great point! Mexico needs to go ‘TSA’ on all people traveling within Mexico.. Oh wait, I just read that the TSA is allowing ILLEGAL ALIENS to fly within the United States but for we U.S. citizens, that’s another story.

It would take months for them to walk across Mexico; something I believe would stop a lot of them from trying. Make it an automatic 1 year in a Mexican jail for aiding the migrants by transporting them anywhere except an emergency room for emergency medical care.
I agree. This would be a solid and good start to stopping or at least drastically slowing this invasion. Put a moratorium of 25 years on any South American or Mexican immigrants at the same time. Of course that's something congress would have to do and they are the biggest weenies in this equation; starting with Nasty Pelosi.

Mexico has an endless supply of empty promises.
“Results first”. It’s about time.
Mehico has had a criminal culture from the get go. They will never change. It’s like one big prison compound. And like a prison, it needs to be walled in with electrified fence on top and land mines in front of it. Years ago the New American magazine predicted that at some point California would become a Mexican majority and then appeal to the U.N. to be recognized as a part of Mehico. We’re almost there.
And President Trump made it clear he won’t accept, “It’s the cartels running the show” as an excuse....either the Mexican government asserts it runs the country or they ask for help in destroying the cartels...but they cannot claim they can’t do anything....
Do not remove/reduce tariffs until Mexico demands the USA return ALL foreigners, who crossed Mexico to illegally enter the USA, to stand trial for breaking Mexico’s Law’s.
Also, re-patriate ALL Mexico Citizens illegally squatting in the USA.
Mexico to investigate ALL incoming bank/wire transfers and apply new taxes. Investigate incoming money flows to ensure monies not earned via crime. Throw the tax cheats in jail
Then, we can talk about going forward
This will last as long as a Middle Eastern treaty.
