They are trying to use an economic arguement to proffer the point that less profits will suopposedly result from this thinking this is something that capitalists will respond to.

But green cars have been pumped out for a long time and without gov’t subsidies they would have not done anywhere near the sales had they not had those subsidies under the Obama admn.

To get to the 52 mpg CAFE standard requires larding cars up with lots more high-profit things, like shutters on your front grille, lots of aluminum, etc. The car companies have been furiously investing in all that junk for a decade and their investment stands to be wiped out if Trump succeeds in rolling back CAFE.

I suspect that the profit margins on all that super duper equipment needed to reach 52 mpg are much higher than the companies earned on an old conventional car designs.

What they should really be squealing about is “Why did you damed bureaucrats make us invest tens of billions to reach 52 mpg?”

Since they can build planned obsolescence into autos and blame the government. The drive to efficiency has killed long term quality.

Regulation increases burdens on corporations, and so limit the ability for new business to enter the markets. Tooling up for those from scratch is a huge barrier to entry. Big corporations, from manufactures to banks love them for that reason.

Anyone who thinks these companies want to have anything to do with a “free market it” are fools.

This is just plain nut-job territory.

This is a Leftist mem.

It’s the latest tactic of using lies to try and denigrate Trump.

A lot of people will buy it. I’m not.

and auto manufacturers charge tons of money for auto parts that ‘regulate carbon emissions’

I don’t know what they are complaining about. The government is simply lowering the minimals already set. The carmakers can still maintain the higher standards if they feel they can make more money with them. The deregulation is simply offering the manufacturers more flexibility. If they want to get to 52mpg with higher pollution controls on their own, no one will stop them....just no one will force them if they don’t feel they can get there right away.
