Something Big Just Happened On Mexico’s Southern Border

While the President is overseas honoring D-Day, the cable news talking heads back home have been busy critiquing his recently announced plan to impose an increasing series of tariffs on Mexico unless that nation stops the flood of migrants passing through their country toward the United States. The plan has been described in the press with a variety of terms ranging from reckless to impossible. After all, even if Mexico was willing to consider such a deal, how could they possibly stop the human tide from flowing across their own southern border?
Well, the tariffs must have gotten their attention. I don’t know if they can shut down their border entirely, but as of this morning, they seem to be giving it the good old college try. (Reuters)
Mexican soldiers, armed police and migration officials blocked hundreds of migrants after they crossed the border from Guatemala in a caravan into southern Mexico on Wednesday, and detained dozens of them, a witness from a migrant aid group and an official said.
The Mexican response in the border town of Metapa, which included dozens of soldiers, marked a toughening of the governments efforts to curb the flow of mainly Central American migrants, said Salva Cruz, a coordinator with Fray Matias de Cordova.
That many sailors and military police, yes, its new, Cruz said, by WhatsApp, from Metapa, in the southern border state of Chiapas, where the vast majority of migrants cross into Mexico.
To call this a “shift in policy” is something of an understatement. Federal police, members of the military and other enforcement officials are staging along some common crossing points from Guatemala turning people back unless their documentation is in order. This is a definite switch from their recent policy of attempting to process everyone seeking to make asylum claims and allowing other groups to travel north.
But that’s not all that’s going on by a long shot. An official with the National Migration Institute in Mexico City said that migrants already in the country were now being approached and being asked to show their citizenship status. Up to 400 were detained yesterday with many presumably being scheduled for deportation back to their home countries.
In a perhaps even more stunning move, yesterday afternoon saw the detention of Irineo Mujica, the director of Pueblo Sin Fronteras, a migrant rights group that has been coordinating with American groups in San Francisco to organize and assist the caravans. Another migrant rights activist named Cristobal Sanchez was also detained.
The new Mexican president has signaled on several occasions that he was ready to play ball with Donald Trump if it was to the mutual benefit of our nations. I haven’t seen any official statement from AMLO yet, but this certainly sounds like he’s willing to bring down the hammer in the interest of avoiding those tariffs. The Vice President is currently in discussions with Mexican officials, so we’ll see if these most recent changes move the ball.

Picture does not go with this story. It is a file picture from when the large group in Tijuana tried to force their way in a few month ago. The reason they hide their face is because if they are caught trying to cross the border by force they can not apply for asylum or any other legality and will be deported ASAP.
They can walk in open areas, or sneak across and ask for asylum, immigration hearing...be welcomed with open arms by socialists but forcing their way in is a different story.

Im sure the Government could task their Cartels for a few weeks of enforcement duty. If Trump had our military really seal up the border to the point where cartel drug smuggling could not occur, there would soon be reports of mass graves of migrants being found in the desert.

Jim, I don’t know if you remember me. I am Grassontop from the late nineties and I posted a post about the “COMMANDERLESS IN CHIEF” in which the Secret Service paid me a visit! It was because the sex pervert Clinton was twenty miles from my home.
I was wondering if you could email that post to my email address if you can find it. It would mean so much to me!
My email address is: wymitch5230@gmail.com
I learned a valuable lesson from that “TREASON is the Reason” experience.
I sure liked the rally in D.C. with my wife and our. It sign we made up. It was a good time and my wife and I were glad we went.

This cannot be possible and must be a fake news story because everyone knows that there are no large numbers of immigrants coming into the US from Mexico. I’ll choose to ignore this post. /s

yesterday afternoon saw the detention of Irineo Mujica, the director of Pueblo Sin Fronteras It's good to see this happening because once the enables and leadership are rounded up the money to fund this invasion will dry up. I hope that they lock them up and throw away the key - all of them .

No sh*t! The American people are in for such a rude awakening. They don’t know, or don’t want to know how serious things have gotten. They are blissfully ignorant, let alone care, or be enough aware of the world around them to be able to read between the lines the events of today. Russia and China fornicating in broad daylight sucking in Assad, Un, and that mindset. Iran HAS or will have a bomb/bombs and Israel planning for war. The chatter between forces of evil are almost audible. The world’s markets seem to be hiding something. Too much stuff happening at once with no follow up Intel. Our own border collapsing letting in who knows what matter or scope of enemy infiltration. I can FEEL things melting down. I think the world is telling the sheeps (goats) like Rachel Maddow’s of this country “ I’ll give you something to cry about “

Soros must positively be hemorrhaging money. There's one person who can't cash-in soon enough. I'll start the conga-line the instant this crud meets his maker... Satan. :) God allows evil to live a long time unless someone takes matters into their own hands. There are times when I question my faith in God when I see the amount of harm an evil individual like Soros imparts on millions of individuals. The "Soros will have his day of reckoning" belief seems like a poor trade-off.

It’s’ called strategy. Why let them build up at the mex/ameri border while they keep trying to stop them when we can pop the whole zit in the south where the Caravans are originating.

Not sure how your post relates to mine of earlier nor exactly what this sentence means, but it seems possible you are confusing tactics with strategy
Consider these points, which is what JFF and I address:
Which is more important to the U.S. that the entry of illegal immigrants across Mexico's northern border is stopped, or the flow of entrants across Mexico's southern border is stopped?
Would it be of greater benefit to the U.S. if Mexico applies a larger amount of border control assets at its northern border rather than at its southern border?

No doubt the goal is to stop illegal border crossings into the U.S. I just think we get bigger bang for our buck starting with the Mass migration in the south. Get that under control and the invasion in the north (Mexico, U.S) border will become smothered enough to Control that entry by us.
If Mexico keeps allowing in invasion minded immigrants then allowing them to get to the U.S and Mexico border makes sense to them to just stack them up at the U.S border and be done with them.
I mean think about it. What is likely to happen if we encourage and extract promises from Mexico to station 6000 troops around the U.S Mexico fence, but Mexico keeps allowing in the invasion minded immigrants in the south? Where are they going to go?
That’s strategy. You may not agree in the effectiveness of it, but it’s strategy for a real war we are having that nobody is talking about or preparing for.

...but Mexico keeps allowing in the invasion minded immigrants in the south? Where are they going to go? Exactly, and which nation owns that problem? IMO, the question of enforcement of Mexico's southern borders is solely a matter for Mexico.
If Mexico prohibits "invasion minded immigrants" from crossing its northern border, and growing numbers of those immigrants stress Mexico's resources it will likely decide to also enforce its southern border.
